Default Anyone with Run Flats try to get a spare?

I've read about some folks here that had run flat tires OEM on their 450h and ditched them for standard tires and a spare. Here is the spare tire compartment. I have the Mark Levinson premium sound system and it looks like they filled the spare with an amp and some other components.

Has anyone every moved all this stuff out to make room for a spare?

Any suggestions? I'd love to get standard tires, but I don't want to have to rely on puncture fillers as I work in an area and tend to get lots of nails.

Thanks!

The electronics/mechanicals filling the spare wheel well is actually some of the necessary parts for the 3000 dollar APSSS option. It is a pretty advanced anti roll suspension system. Suffice to say you cannot move any of those components. You could try carrying a spare in the trunk but it would make the small trunk even smaller...

lucas is 100% correct here. Gonna have to go with a can of fix a flat bud.

Thanks Gents .

My Pilot ZPs lasted a short year and 4 months. Can you patch a tire once you've used a can of fix-a-flat on it? I'm guessing no.

I was in the exact situation when i could no longer take the noise from the pirelli runflat. I did consider going with regular tires and place a spare in the trunk, or a can of fix a flat. But i sometimes need to carry a wheelchair in the trunk so a spare is not an option. I also want to avoid using a can of fix a flat on any car with a tire monitoring system since over time it might damage the TMS valves.

Took a bite at a set of better reviewed PS2 ZP. They are great at the moment when new. Hopefully the will last longer than the 20k warranty. Hope you come to a satisfactory decision.

What year is the car shown with the APSSS electronics in the trunk? Has this been an option for all 450h's? I certainly don't have that in my trunk. I have space for a spare. At least the space saver version.

Yes, starting with 07 450h, cuz mine is 07. Rare.

I think it's also available on some very rare 460's.

This is a rare option that not alot of people know about. When I bought my used 450h at a dealer (non-lexus, but sells a lot of lexus and luxury vehicles), they didn't know the car had this option and thus didn't advertise as such. After looking at the car and got it, I felt I got a steal.

That's my trunk and it's an '07 as well. I actually wanted a bare bones 450h but every one I found had a lot of options. I stumbled upon this one at a dealer in Southern Cal. It had 500 miles on it and had every option possible. According to the dealer, these were courtesy cars for one of the Lexus Golf tournaments. They gave these to the top golfers to putt around in. They had 4 and I took the black one. Got if for a steal too!

I didn't realize the APSSS was a rare option. Lucky me. It's the best handling sedan I've ever driven...but I'm preaching to the choir here

I have the tire pressure sensors as well so I don't like the idea spraying run flat in a standard tire either. I guess I'm back to run flats...
