Oh No, when I had mine fail they said there was only 2 , 1 in Texas, (that I got) and 1 in Canada. They were waiting for others to be shipped from Japan. They also said they would only ship by truck and no air freight, so if there is one anywhere it needs to be trucked.

Great news, I know $600 is still a bite, but it could have been 10 times worst or more.....

I have 2006 RX400H with 195,000 miles and live in upsate New York with long winters. I keep wondering how many more miles I have left. Is this a replacement job only done at a Lexus dealership? Do aftermarket replacement or used hybrid batteries ever come up for sale?

Here is the info on removing and replacing the HV battery, so you can decide if you would want to try it at home.

See it isnt rocket science, the dealer just wants you to think it is. Caution is the main course as the potential voltage is quite high. Safety and common sense is all that is needed and of course the batteries....

When mine was replaced last fall it only took them less than an hour to pull the old and install the new once the replacement showed up, that took 4 days. If I was out of warranty and need one I would shop used and do it myself.

Thanks for the information - it looks like a garage job. Do any independent garages tackle these?

For the most part I don't think all that many have failed and most independent shops would not have had to deal with it. That is my guess

Good info. I got a 2006 RX400h with over 100,000 miles on it and still get the same mileage as when I first got it. Heard Toyota/Lexus hybrid batteries can last up to 300,000 miles before needing replacements. Some Prius taxis in Canada are still using the original batteries after 300,000 miles. I guess there is always that 0.001% chance of defected ones, but Lexus always take care of their customers.

He said well, that doesn't sound normal does it? He asked if I thought I could drive it, I said give me a minute and I will drive around the parking lot to see what it feels like. Everything performed as normal, so I called him back and said I would head his way, but if it quits I will call him back and have it towed, he said fine. Made it there, no issues except the cruise would not turn on, otherwise drove normally. Just got the call, the main battery is bad, none in our area, none in surrounding states and will be shipped by ground from probably Canada. I'm in Arizona, so it could be a few days. He said he has been in the dealership over 5 years and this is the very first main battery they have ever had to replace. This is a Certified used and has 49,000 miles now. At least I have a 2011 RX as the loaner. Anyone else had the main battery go out?
That heat killed it. Heat is the main enemy to the batteries and you probably have built up hair and dust in the fan.
