Default towing in winter with a RX400H

I am an avid snowmobiler. I have a truck to haul my 2,500 pound enclosed trailer but from time to time I would have to use the wifes ride. She wants an AWD 2008/9 RX400H. Will this ride be up to the task?

Only in the AWD version. FWD is nor recommended for towing.

Gen III starts with the 2010 model run as the RX 450h and continues for probably at least another couple of years or maybe more.

All I see in the 2008 RX400h owner's manual (available online at www.lexus.com) is 2000lbs without tow package and 3500lbs with towing package.

However, the manual for the RX450h specifically states "Trailer towing - AWD models with towing package". But we all know the 450h is a 90lb weakling compared the the 400h...right, right?
Also, the Lexus website under RX450h specifications only shows a towing capacity for the AWD model. I don't remember seeing this for the 400h (in other words, AWD or FWD was OK to tow).

See if this link works...

Also from the owner's manual, and this I never knew, you can tell if there is a towing package by looking at the Lexus "L" emblem in the front grill...."On vehicles with a towing package, the front emblem has openings, which are designed to improve the cooling performance" (and there's a handy picture in the manual showing this)

I know if you look through the bottom driver's side grilled opening (the small one down near the foglights) you can see if there is a tranny cooler in behind that opening (and exiting into the driver's side wheel well). Not sure though, if the tranny cooler is part of the towing package or if they all came with tranny coolers.
