I just drove home with the trunk lid open, but used a tie-down to keep the lid secure. The very short trip (less than a mile) was slow and smooth, with no tailwind or sudden stops. When I tried to close the lid with the power closer, it would 't move. In fact, it is rigidly held in the full open position, so I can't even budge it manually. Obviously, I didn't force it too hard for fear of breaking something. Is there a manual release? Or did the hinge overtravel its limits??? I'm stumped, and will drive to the dealer tomorrow, if necessary. But, if something simple is wrong, I'd like to avoid an unnecessary cost to fix it. Ideas, anyone?

I've had some issues with the trunk not staying up or even going up while the car is parked up a steep hill. I think the weight of the trunk lid and gravity works against the motor. The issue you're talking about I've never heard of.

Wow that is the first time I have ever heard this. I hope you take your car to the local dealership and have this figured out asap
