It's supposed to "tighten" the sway bar when cornering so that the car corners flat no matter how hard you are driving. I drove one with and without, and it seemed like it helped? If you aren't lucky enough to have the active stabilizer option, f sport sway bars seem to do the same thing, although it isn't as dynamic as the active system.
