Default 2007 RX400h potential new owner

Starting a new thread b/c this is another vehicle.

I guess once I looked at a 400h, I fell in love with the technology so now I seek those out.

This one is a 2007 RX400h with 101,000 miles on it. This is *not* at a lexus dealer. The price seems right, $20k, and its $6k less than the 2008 that I was looking at. At $6k I can probably fix a problem or three caused by the extra 30k miles, right?

According to the carfax, the lady who owned it had it serviced at the dealer every 5,000 miles.

Any red flags I should look at?

Should I take it to someone to look it over? Anyone besides the dealer, who's going to say we are legally blah blah and we can't yada yada, so, who?

Thanks again guys!

Biggest red flag is your past Hybrid Warranty....The other car gave you around 23k miles of warranty. Other issues are rear wheel bearing issues. The Navigation level also may be different.

I just bought an 07 with 70K miles for 22,500. You have some bargaining room in there with that mileage. Mine is almost fully loaded too, minus ML Stereo and adaptive Cruise. I love it so far. Only wish I could reprogram the TPS to allow a little more throttle input before engaging the ICE. With 260lbs/ft at 0 rpm, im sure the electric motors can push it along without the ICE kicking in at 20% throttle.

If you find that the ICE is starting up with only a light touch of the throttle, make sure the ISC reset has been done.

I was able to pull forward a bit without the ICE engaging, and at the end of the test drive I was able to back into the parking spot completely on electrical power.

We're down to $17,100.

I thought the ISC reset was only necessary on 05-06 models. Also I've heard it called the ICE (internal combustion engine), but what is the ISC? How is the reset performed? In the service history, the battery was replaced in July of 2011. Very possible the ISC was not reset if it is indeed required on the '07.

ISC = Idle Speed Control. Some info can be found here.

There is a TSB for the 07 and 08 models as well. I've posted them somewhere - either here or at lexusownersclub.com (my user name there is 'lemon'). Search for them if you want, but trust me..it applies to all years of the RX400h.
