Several Ford and Lincolns were at the top of the hybrid list, led by the MKZ Hybrid which missed the EPA estimate by 11 mpg's in their Road Test. The ES300h and Avalon Hybrid were on the list too, but both of them missed by 3 mpg's.
That's a stunning indictment against the EPA methodology, which AFAIK essentially permits the mfgrs to self-certify under a vaguely watchful eye.

I achieved significantly better than EPA economy with my previous hybrid, a 2010 Fusion - overall average was 41MPG.

To date, I've slightly bested the ES300h EPA efficiency by about 1MPG. I've experienced a terrific shortfall with city economy and exceed the highwy by a steep margin.
