Dealer wants $8K to replace hybrid battery
My Gs450h is 1100 miles over 100k miles and Lexus is trying to get me to pay $8000 for a new traction battery. Apparently the CARB extended warranty only applies to Toyota, ironically they get 10 years/150K mile warranty.
So essentially dont buy a Lexus hybrid because they dont get the same extended warranty like Toyotas.
Does anyone know of someone selling remanufactered Lexus batteries?

Still waiting to hear back from Lexus Corporate
They did reduce the price but its still over $4000. Seems like bad goodwill for a car that is 1100 miles over warranty to charge that much.

Have you guys ever thought about opening your batteries and testing each cell and replacing just the dead cell? They do for the prius and only cost them $37 bucks a cell vs replacing the whole unit.

OP, I found this:

which is these guys: http://www.highvoltagesolutionz.com/
I just found them online so I don't know who they are but they seem to offer a 18-36 month warranty. Again, I don't know who they are so buy at your own risk!
Does anyone know how long the battery is warrantied for if you have it replaced at the dealer, like mine was?

Open your battery up and experiment! I dont see why toyota/lexus would use a different style cell battery in their hybrids, and prius batteries are plentiful as the batteries are only $36 ea cell
Even if it was slightly different maybe you can mod it a bit to make it fit. You would be saving a ton of money

That's great! My battery was just replaced about 2k miles ago and paid out of pocket by the previous owner ($6k!). I plan on keeping this car forever so when the battery DOES go out again, I will def experiment.
If anyone in the DFW area has a gs450h with a bad battery and wants to try this, I am more than willing to help anytime!
