RX450H with Remote start, engine won't warm up in winter
I have a 2012 Lexus RX450H with remote start and live in the Great Lakes region. The problem is after the automobile is started with the remote, the motor will shut down after a few minutes and then it might start back up again after several minutes. The bottom line is even with the heater and defrosters turned on high, it will “never” get worm enough to melt ice or snow off the windshield nor will the engine ever get warm enough to even blow warm air. Has anyone else encountered this problem or have a remedy for it?

No, I don't play soccer!
yogi1068, you didn't mention if you have the 450h in eco mode or not. Turn it off if you do. The engine will shut off less frequently. I find it's enough to defrost the windshield and warm up the RXh quicker overall when driving. The compromise is gas mileage will suffer.

Take some cardboard and bailing wire and attach the cardboard to the front of your grill, that cuts down the air flow to the radiator and warms the car up faster....
Nope, nope don't do that. Just try what Anita said, that should help a lot. Be sure to have your controls set the way you want them the night before so when you remote start the defroster is on.
