My local Toyota dealer has the 12v battery for the 2013 Highlander Hybrid on sale for $139. This is the same battery replacement for the 2013 RX 450h except that it's a TOYOTA branded part (TRUSTART) that is made by InterState. Maybe your dealer has the same special going on. I don't believe that they ship. The other battery listed is the Panasonic OEM for the 2013 RX 450h which I bought a few months ago.

That doesn't look like an AGM battery to me, but I could not see all of the specs. Does the Highlander have the battery under the hood or in the passenger cabin?
InterState does list AGM models for the Highlander on their website, but the dimensions don't fit the Lexus battery compartment -- they're too long.

You are correct. The link I posted now directs you to the non-hybrid version of the 2013 Highlander. Not sure what happened but they don't list the 12v hybrid AGM batteries anymore. Both the TrueStart and the Panasonic AGM batteries are gone. Now I see a Toyota branded model referred to as True-2 only for the non-hybrid 2013 Highlander. They must be in the middle of replacing the TrueStart models. Probably why the TrueStart went on sale.
Your dealer may still have some of the TrueStart models left. I would try and call and ask for availability/price/size.
Previously my original link took you to the 2013 Highlander Hybrid vehicle battery page which listed the Panasonic AGM battery with the same part # as the one in my 2013 RX450h. The listing also included the Toyota TrueStart vehicle battery as well, so I'm pretty sure it'll fit the RX450h too. A Toyota mechanic told me that the TrueStart was made by InterState. True-2 may have a different manufacturer. To answer your question about the placement of the vehicle battery for the Highlander hybrid, it is the same as the 450h.
The 12v batteries on the Hybrids last a very long time. Because all they do is run the electronics while the Traction battery starts the car.
Had a 07 GS450h with 262 k miles with the oem Panasonic still ran strong. Also still had the OEM traction battery about 80% still good, but with a few low cells.
For Canadian fellows, looks like Odyssey ODP-AGM47 H5 L2 (formerly 47-650) is available, currently looking into ordering 1 for my 2015 RX-450h.
Will post the results.

Too funny! A Lexus Tech couldn't figure out how to ground the negative cable. Wow.
You think that's funny? I once worked with a mechanic who said he only knew how to work on Corvettes. I (a guy who doesn't work on cars everyday like he did) pretty quickly figured out why the engine was misfiring and fixed it.
Just found out that now Costco has Group 35 AGM Battery. Not sure if it will fit or not, just for reference. https://costco.interstatebatteries.c...161&Country=US
(Could not find the battery by searching RX450h but Nissan 370z. )
I still don't understand why so many people keep looking for aftermarket batteries in this thread when you can get the OE Lexus Panasonic battery for $250 from Lexus if you shop smart.
Nothing fits and lasts as well as the original battery on these cars, so why waste your time and effort to save a few dollars?
Just double checked my local Lexus dealer's online store and it's still selling for $252 plus tax. Part number 28800-31291
Go to parts.lexus.com and search for a local dealer using your ZIP code.
Let’s start with because it involves the dealership and we’ll end with because it involves the dealership.
So good point but I think many people want to avoid the dealership at all costs especially if it involves having them install it.

I hear you, a lot of people stay away from the dealer for fear of getting ripped off. I don’t go to them for service either unless the car is under warranty or something only the dealer can do.
Im not recommending to pay the service department to install a new battery. Instead, go online, place an order for the battery and pick it up from the parts department. Then come home and install it. Placing the order online guarantees you get a discount from the outrageous MSRP. The Panasonic battery is also shipped from Japan and is known to last over 10 years.
I’ve yet to see an aftermarket 12v battery for the 450h that has the same dimensions, doesn’t require any modifications, same or better specs, and costs less.
I purchase my parts elsewhere when it makes sense, this one is something you should definitely get from the dealer.
