It's highway robbery! You cannot find the exact AGM 12V battery (Panasonic made) for the RX450h (like my 2013 RX450h) any local store. I had to pay $350 almost two years ago for one. However, next time, I will buy a good brand name one at a local store, as long as it fits in physical size/dimensions, ampere rating, AND is an AGM battery. Then buy the right transparent tube to connect to the battery's hydrogen exhaust port, because the RX450h's transparent tube seems to fit ONLY the Panasonic battery. In my opinions, that should work.

I understand that quality aftermarket AGM batteries are at least equal in quality, if not better quality than the OEM Panasonic D23 SLA battery.

Bit the bullet and glad I did.
Paid Lexus their 400.00 and somethings their is no shortcut. Full tank of gas went from 400 miles to 485 miles. Wow!!! My first hybrid so this was a learning moment for me. The original battery lasted 10 years. I’ll take those kind of odds. Sometimes their is no shortcut

Wonder why they would put a SLA battery in the RX450h
and AGM in the GS450h with that one only rated at 29 AH and 310 CCA

Thank you that part # is correct at the Toyota Dealership. Called 5, only a couple had the battery and only one was also selling it for MSRP of $291. All the others wanted more. My 10.5 year old battery still works fine if I drive every day which I don't with just 56K miles and still the original brakes. In fact I've yet to go to the shop for a mechanical issue. New battery installed by me, lost the FM presets but not the clock time. Also the manual states to open the door and close it then start the vehicle as normal after 12 volt disconnect/reconnect and if it does not work try it again. Worked the second time. I've had the other battery out before for days at a time several years back believe me you don't want to know why Thanks Jim

I am surprised to see the white material in your battery vent photo (photo 4?) ... I "assume" that this is some sort of filter material. Either that or a plug that is meant to pop out if the AGM battery reaches an upset condition and it releases to vent.
I do not believe that material existed in your OEM battery and you may be best to remove the "white filter" material (if that is what it is) so that you have an unrestricted vent.

The white filter is from the OEM vent tubing. We are the ORIGINAL OWNER since brand new.
I was wondering about it too. I was able to blow it out in either direction and not much resistance.
I thought about removing the white filter, but decided not to and keep it as is bc it maybe designed to stop small insects like ants to crawl in and obstruct it? IDK??

I did not see a filter on my OEM battery vent, but to be honest, it may have been part of the OEM battery and I never went looking for it.
If it was part of the OEM battery, it must be there for a reason ... and if your blow through test showed "not much resistance" then it is probably fine to leave it in.
I believe that most group 35 batteries with side vents have a vent on both sides (see attached photos of your battery) and the vent that is not being used needs to be plugged. In my case, I plugged the unused vent with silicone caulking. Other posts have indicated that the unused vent can be sealed with a plastic push in plug.
It is worth pointing out to readers of this thread that it is essential to plug off the unused vent, otherwise in upset conditions the battery will vent taking the path of least resistance, which will be through the unused (unplugged) vent and into the passenger compartment.
