Autospies.com reported :-
The spies have learned, that the boys in Torrance, are considering a 12 cylinder version of the next generation LS, to compete with the S600 and 760.
If they can build it and sell it in between the price of the S430 and S500, MB better look out.
We hear, if it is successful, a 12 cyl. coupe could arrive as well.

If so I wonder what engine are they going to use? The V-12 from the Toyota Century? But I will believe it when I see it. There has been to many threads on rumors about the next gen LS.

that would be a great move for lexus to use that engine. from what i understand, that engine was limited at manufacture to only produce so much hp and torque. i bet that if that engine gets used here in the US it will come over with full force! they'll be in more demand than the new sc430 was. i just hope they don't use any design features of the century itself...it looks like a car from a different era...really old and out of place.

i am sorry but i have to pass on this one.
Having a v8 burns alot of gas, i cant even imagine a v-12.
As cool as it sounds....i dont think its going to be much appeal. Think about it, the s600 is just plain big and overpriced and usless unless ur a raper or such.
not much of a racer either.

I agree with you, XxLS400xX
Although a V-12 sounds very cool, imo, it is a little bit excessive. Unless you live close to an autobhan.
I lived in HongKong, and our speed limit never exceeds 110 km/h, about 65 mph, and 95% of the time I'm stuck in stop and go traffic, besides the V-12 engine, I wish Toyota will offer some kind of hybrid engine on a LS.
I found this article in MotorTrend.com
http://www.motortrend.com/features/news/112_news19/
"In other news, Toyota plans to use gasoline-electric hybrid engines in all of its vehicles by 2012 to increase fuel efficiency and reduce tailpipe emissions, reports the Boston Globe. The gasoline-electric system emits as much as 40% less carbon dioxide than internal-combustion engines, said Masatami Takimoto, managing director for engine engineering. Toyota was the first company to sell a hybrid car the Prius in 1997."

I'm rather partial to my 8.3 liter Viper for delivering adrenilin. However, I'm not sure I need such power in my family sedan. Just give me a DVD player to keep the kids quiet in the back seat.

From what I understand, an LS600 would be brought into existance to put the Maybach to shame. It would not only have a V12 but would be so over the top in Luxo features that it would set a new standard.
I'm all for that.
Ultimate luxury and high speed....what's not to like?

yeah, like i said in the other thread, autospies isnt THAT reliable. anyway, if there is an LS600 coming out, it would be very awesome. as my dad said "i used to think that I would never use a v12 because i never get that much speed going, but i would use that power in times like this" (said while speeding by people in the '02 LS430) I think the v12 would seriously get some acceleration use, maybe not top end use, but from stoplights and passing people on entrance ramps, it would kill.
