GS450H #'s in USA (according to the Dept of Energy..and Lexus!)
So I was curious to see how many other GS450h's there really are. In my search I found the answer! Data was taken from US department of energy.
http://afdc.energy.gov/data/10301
Since they track hybrid's sold, I was able to isolate just the GS450h.
2006:1,784 ; 2007:1,645 ; 2008:678 ; 2009:469 ; 2010:305 ; 2011:282 total units 5,163 ; For the 4th gen guys and gals... 2012:607; 2013:522 ; 2014:183
So the 460 is a rarer car according to another post: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...our-gs-is.html
Why the GS450h was not in the data is a Toyota question. If you ask me it's because the GS450h is in another league... and it was! Listed under hybrid vehicles...second post reflects data I found via Lexus.
If you are lucky enough to have one, enjoy your GS450h! There are not that many out there.
Happily driving 1 out of 282...402.

Data from Lexus North America
Well Data from one source is good...but multiple sources is better. I found data from Lexus North America via www.lexus.com
2006 gs450h numbers are not listed. I suspect this is because the car was introduced in March '06 which aligns with Japan's fiscal year.
2007 GS450h numbers produced for North America: 3,323 *most likely combined with 2006
2008 GS450h numbers produced for North America: 745
2009 GS450h numbers produced for North America: 350
2010 GS450h numbers produced for North America: 235
2011 GS450h numbers produced for North America: 402
Total units for third generation GS450h: 5,055 units So with this data there are 108 units unaccounted for. Most likely produced before March 2006...or Government data collection error...or Canada....

Wow, ty SO much for posting this. Your data is quite shocking. I had an idea that the car was rare, but just not THIS rare.
I own a 2013 (4GS) and cannot believe there are only about 500. I thought the number was going to be in the thousands (i.e. between 2-3K).
Once again, ty for sharing this with all of us! Amazing post.

imagine, lexus tell you, we have a hybrid sedan!!
what people think?
another pruis....
but no, it doesn't do 50mpg, it only does mid 20s
so what lexus tell the crowd again?
it does 0-60 in 5.2 sec.
what the crowd think?
my BMW twin turbo 6 cylinder can easily beat it.
its just me, i still can't find a decent replacement come as close as my GSh yet

i think its because for the price of the GS450h, it just doesn't sound really convincing to the public,

Yeah, people do think hybrid = Prius. Had this guy that I know still call it a Prius even after I named off the major specs and all.
It only does around 25-26 mpg if you're purely driving in bumper to bumper and stop and go traffic more than half of the time. I monitor it weekly, but when I make the weekly visit to my parents house at the end of the week.. it goes back to 30 or so.
You're probably right about the price. The extra cost doesn't really justify the money saved in gas.

but trust me, most of my BMW friends who drives BMW, from low low end to M5 fully loaded model
none of them can even come half as close as what the mfg claim, i had friend with 528i can't even get more than 23 mpg on the highway, m5 owner with 10mpg if they are lucky, all their cars break down like crazy, computer always throw random codes at them,
the car shift jerk super uncomfortable, the AC is just weak, for that price i rather get 2 corolla or 3

Everyone looks at MPG when looking at hybrids. The GS450h is not targeted as an MPG monster, which probably helps to lose it's appeal to those that are looking for good mileage. Compared to the ICE gs's the Mpg difference is not too great.
All I can say is too bad to everyone that has written off this car and drivetrain. I think that the GS450h is an amazing vehicle with a whiff of the future.
While everyone basis their car buying decisions with 0-60 times etc, they fail to realize the beauty of the hybrid drivetrain. The 30-60mph 50-70mph ,or what I consider "real world driving", is so great it is astonishing.
All I know is that, it is going to take a spectacular car to follow up the GS450h I am in right now. It does everything that a luxury car should do. Exclusivity included.
Let's not bash BMW drivers. They decided to "Bring My Wallet"

i work at a dealership that is huge and serves a huge area. ive worked both in sales and service. im currently in the service area so i get to see all the interesting stuff. the GSh is a unicorn. ive only seen a handful of them! we got one of the insanely rare 2010 GS460s one of the 50 or so in existence in as a trade. it was black on black and not only was it a 460 but it had every single option that was available. i actually had a chance to get it and im a total dumbass for not going for it. ill never see another one. my god that car was fun to drive.

I will send a pic when I break 200k miles in my 2007 gs450h. I have only seen 3 like that and one was in totalled condition.
