I personally like and have always liked hood ornaments, its a design feature I'm sad to see gone. But...IMHO the car needs to be designed for one. When people stick hood ornaments on cars that didn't originally have them, it just looks stupid. Even MB models with the sport grills, the hood ornaments look great on the car with the shield grill, but stupid on the car with the sport grill.
I also think logos have to be symmetrical to look good as a hood ornament, they need to look the same from the front and the back. The Lexus logo doesn't lend itself to this.
