2008 LS600hL Transmission failure

Well, MCU/screen was broken, that is $4000, 2 broken door handle, each door handle cost $1100 to fix. Needed a new headlight, cost $3200. Had a huge leak in PANO roof, got Tesla to pay half, so that cost me 3000$. Needed 4 new tires since Tesla doesn't understand what camber is, price is $1260. It is more, but it was fixed before the warranty ran out. The drivetrain is amazing, but to many problems, are on my DU/engine nr4

$5k isnt that bad to you, but you have people who pay $20,000 for these things because they're cooler than a Corolla and they aren't able to shoulder a $5,000 repair.

Price tag of repairs never changes no matter how cheap you may buy a car for, kinda shocking how few realize that. I'm about half way through a 7 series engine replacement who's owner is shocked a $1200 car needs $4000 in parts/work

Absolutely, and I warn people about that all the time.

haha no, they only approve their own specs. I was thinking about getting a Model 3, the coolest car I have ever driven. But teslas policy is just awful.

I tend to agree to all "second opinion" needed posts...
Reaon is.... a dealer will not get into fixing parts. They replace it. And if Lexus doesn't manufacture individual pieces of a bigger part, they will sell the entire part.
As an example, let's say your alternator dies. Typically, it's only the brush inside that needs to be replaced. Dealers will not remove the alternator, open it up to replace that 5$ brush. They don't want to, and they don't have the brush as a standalone part. They will sell you a brand new complete alternator...
I believe you issue might be with one of those transmission parts and don't need to replace the whole thing...

I change my sc430 trans fluid when i change the engine oil. A drain and fill only gets 2 quarts out of 14 so by the time I've cycled through 2 quarts at a time, it's 60K+ miles.
