Hello,
New here, although I actually used to run the lexus.com servers back when they were lexususa.com (the server was literally my ottoman for a year
) -- My intimate knowledge of the Lexus lineup started getting fuzzy around 2012. Also, now that I don't stare at the things every day, nor get in trouble for complaining about "ew, the redesign is totally an S-Class" -- I'm finally in the market for one of my own. Having driven them all, I of course want an LS.
Because I am lazy and use a lot of bluetooth devices, I've limited my search to 2010+ (despite the Blackberry Media Gateway being lovely in my current whip) -- but the prices on the 600 are sort of "hockey stick" and exponential. Also, this is a play car for me, so I don't wish to drop 100 large on it.
My cheapness and laziness have led me to this: A 2013 (yay) LS600hL that I can get around the 24K mark. The problem? 160,000 "all highway" miles. I rank "all highway" up there with "grandma owned" for marketing trust -- and assume that the words are code language for "driven in demolition derbies throughout Florida"![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
In my experience with both car and aircraft engines, time is more of a killer of engines than miles/usage are. I suspect 160K over 4 years actually represents regular and cared-for usage.
Are there things I should be mechanically concerned about with a 160K 2013 LS600?
The leather does not appear to have 160K in bootie wear. I have no other way to prove or disprove the driving habits of the 1st owner. I don't mind slightly higher maintenance costs since the acquisition is so low.
This choice is competing with a local 2010 LS460 for 16K. I feel like the 600 is worth the stretch, particularly to get into the 2013 redesign. I just don't want to learn that the high-mile 600 is knackered and will be a nightmare of ownership.
Thanks for any insights!
Cheers,
- Mike
