Why did Lexus choose ATF in the CVT?
Just curious as to why? I came across that Honda went the other way.

We do not have CVT.
CVT was used as common name for federal hybrid vehicles registration. I do not know of a better word then what it is - PSD. It's planetary gear set. That's it. Clever, very clever, yet.
Why ATF?
2 reasons.
1. Sales
2. Splash lubrication. That's all it does. It bears no hydraulic function. MGs are cooled down by inverter coolant. ATF, which is basically oil, simply lubricates things. That's prolly why they can claim lifetime to it. I change mine at 50K intervals anyway.
