I have 122,000 miles on my car and need to get new brake pads on the front. These are original pads. The dealer says that I need pads and rotors which comes to over $600 dollars. The say the rotors are grooved and cannot be resurfaced. I am going to get a second opinion, because my untrained eye says the are no worse than any other car where I have the rotors turned.
I had the rear brakes done at about 70,000 miles and they told me the same thing. At that time I did question them about resurfacing but they told me there was not enough metal left to do the job.
I would like to know what the experience is of other owners. This does not make sense to me.
I appreciate any help.

Without seeing your rotors it is no way to tell. Should I trust your opinion, replace pads with good semi mets. Do not go for ceramics.
It is super easy DIY job. Basic tools and about 20 minutes per side.
Rotors are CHEAP. I'd do both rotors and pads and immediately bed them in. Brake rotor bedding procedure is easy Google search. They will then last forever.

I grabbed new rotors and pads off of Amazon. Cheap and an easy job. Turning rotors generally are $5-$10 each. New rotors are $36 each, plus pads.
