Service Gap

Service Gap
Hello, I am thinking of buying a used RX 450 H with 68,000 miles on it. My Lexus dealership whom I deal with (at another Lexus dealership other than the one I buying from) looked up the service history and found that there is a service gap from 2-15-2016 39553 miles to 5-24-2017 62531 miles. It makes me a nervous about purchasing this vehicle even though the dealership states that the previous owner could have had the services done at a place that it wasn't reported. The RX I am purchasing is certified So all repairs if any would have to be done under the CPO warranty. Should I ask for an additional 1 year on warranty etc? Any thoughts and comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Tim

I guess in this case you really do have to read between the lines. The dealer is correct, service could have been performed by the owner, or at a shop that doesn't electronically log service records. My gut tells me its more likely this is the case, then someone buying an expensive SUV and suddenly could not be bothered to do a oil change once in a while. And I doubt if the vehicle had any major issues, that they would have been solved by the neighbour's friend in this shed in the backyard. But... strange things do happen. Can you tell if there's been multiple previous owners? If one, then I'd feel better, if multiple, then, mmm, I might slowly step back and then a quick about face and run out the door.

Andy, thanks so much, you are always available to help it seems like with any questions I have. I decided not to go with this vehicle, due to several factors, including the service history but also, I'm afraid of the black color. Just don't know if I could keep a black car looking good as I am so OCD about keeping my car clean. I think I would rather have white, what I have now! So my search is on for an RX 450H!
