RX450H whoop noise right before gas engine turns
Hi All. I hope this is my last problem but our 2017 RX450H sometimes makes a very quick (not even a second) whoop/whistle noise right before the gas engine turns on. It's a bit difficult to capture on video---- dealership just told me everthing is fine ?!

I have that same noise and I have no idea what it is. Please share if you find anything out.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Unfortunately could not replicate the noise when I picked it up--- seems to be completely gone this morning (they had my car for a whole week fixing a sideview mirror they scratched). Tech suggested it could be air pressure from the brakes (don't think so) or from one of the components between the engine/electric motor (wasn't really clear on this--something about when the 2 motors are working together-- most likely). They did check out the car and said everything was fine but let me know if you guys are ever able to pinpoint. Hopefully the noise doesn't come back...

yup. forgot to mention this is only when we first start the vehicle and on the initial start of the gas engine. Afterwards we don't hear the noise at all..

Sorry NS68--- that sounds like a completely difference problem? Has anybody had any luck identifying what the Whoop/Whistle is?
It's just at the initial start of the gas engine--- usually it's a quick noise but sometimes it can be longer (I wouldn't say it's a full second).
I feel like the noise is coming from the middle of the vehicle under the gear shifter/middle of the car. I know it's minor but it's quite annoying..

Still haven't figured this out and the dealer can never replicate (the noise conveniently never occurs when I'm there). Lately the whoop/whistle noise can last 1-2 seconds if I throw the gear into R or D and starting rolling. Anybody else been able to figure this out?

I am trying to figure out how to replicate this for the dealer as well. It seems to mostly be during cold starts for me, so warming the car up on the way to the dealer won't help my case.
If anyone has had any luck figuring this out, I'm all ears!

I was finally able to replicate the noise when dropping off the vehicle for the "Intelligent Sonar Reprogramming" recall. The tech said he had never heard that noise before. At first they were worried it was the hybrid battery (plates rubbing/vibrating against each other). They had a specialist come out to inspect and they determined that it is the FUEL PUMP (which is located right under the hybrid battery). They've ordered the part and will replace... Hope this helps you all with the problem.
