Default Expected MPG vs actual on Hybrid models

Hi:
I have a 2016 ES300H... about 33000 miles
Stated MPG is 39/40
i'm getting 31 or 32 MPG...

What is the MPG you are getting on your Hybrid Lexus ?
If you tell me Year, model and your actual MPG , it helps me a lot ..
Thx
sam

I have 2014 ES300h with 94k. My mpg is around 42 in the summer, 37 in the winter. Mostly city driving. My best tank was 50 mpg measured at the pump over 700 mi - but I had to adjust my driving style to get it.

My best advice to get great mpg is to minimize conventional braking and use regenerative braking as much as possible. To achieve this use the hybrid gauge and make sure the charge needle does not bottom out.

2017 ES300H and average 37 mpg with a 25% highway 75% city driving. Straight highway will average around 41 mpg. As NdYAG stated you will get less in the colder months especially short trips. Check you tire pressure. You living in PA have seen your temperatures go from 90 to 50 degrees. For every 10 degrees drop in temperature you lose one pound of tire pressure.

2013 ES300h - 45,000 miles
Winter- 32-34 calculated mpg depending on how cold it is. When cold, it takes a bit longer to warm the gas engine and the traction battery does not perform as well, this is normal.
Summer - 36-37 calculated mpg.
I drive it like a normal car, I do not try to squeeze mpg out of it. All local driving to work in stop and go traffic. I use ECO mode just because I like the softer acceleration.
To get accurate mpg you need to actually calculate it after filling the tank. Do not go by short trips and do not go by the on-board calculation the car tells you. They can show 1 to 2 more mpg than you actually got.
Do not sweat it, just enjoy the car and the quiet ride.

We average 37 - 38 in the summer driving pretty normally, but in Eco mode. It drops about 3 MPG in the winter but then we don’t drive it as much in the winter. Our typical driving is in the city but we did get 38 MPG on a road trip last summer. Our best tank ever was 40 MPG. I don’t have any special advice for maximizing mileage but if you search a bit, chromedome and others have shared techniques for achieving the best mileage.

The last tank with our NX was a little over 34 MPG with similar driving of about 90% city. The NX 300h has the same basic drivetrain as the ES 300h, but adds another electric motor for the rear wheels and several hundred additional pounds. I guess my point in adding this additional information is that the hybrid ES should always do better than the heavier hybrid NX, so I am surprised you are only seeing 31.

Occasionally I've seen insane figures like 65 mpg when using cruise control at 50 mph on mountain roads. I usually get 40 mpg in winter town driving, the engine has to run more often to keep the emissions equipment warmed up.
Enjoy the car, take it easy and drive smoothly to get high mpg numbers.

2013 es300h 74k. average around 37.
I can get as low as 34, and up to 39. it really depends on how you drive.
I changed my left display (rpm) to the throttle position, and put the dash display on mpg. to get better miles, coasting is where its at. vs always accelerating like I use to.

if you change your displays to show MPGs and throttle, it should help change your driving style.

2016 ES 300H with all add-ons. Since Feb 1 of this year we have driven 12,000 miles. Average mpg 35.5 measured. 60% highway. Lots of hills here in San Diego. I get 41 mpg when driving the desert in Arizona. This replaced a 2007 Nissan Altima Hybrid which I got 31 mpg over 130,000 miles. This car is 3 times the Altima in terms of comfort and handling. Best car I have ever had.

I recently got 2014 model, and I live in Mongolia. Currently here is very cold, during day is about -2F and night reachs avg of -22 F. During the day, I park out side and I am getting 28mpg, which is quite far from the numbers people given here. I think it is due to fuel octane differences here.
I am having my fingers crossed for summer to have at least 35-ish.

With cold temperatures like that you are probably getting what would be expected. The gas engine has longer to warm up and batteries do not perform well at low temperatures either. Here is Georgia, USA so far the fall has been a cold one low 30'sF here in the morning, My last calculated mpg was only 32.5. Normally I average 36 mpg.

Ahh I see. Yes, it does a while to warm up and even when water completely warmed up, it doesnt let me put on ev mode due to batteries being too cold i guess?

Sounds correct. Just look at your screen and see what the battery charge is.
