My RX450H ABS actuator failed! Why won't Lexus fix it?

Call your local Lexus parts and give them your vin number and confirm it with them. It is up to you to order the new part from them or not. At times the part you are looking for has been superseded with another part number.
On line Lexus/Toyota parts dealer website can also give you the latest part number. as an example Lexus of South Atlanta and another one is in Arizona.
I got the dreaded C1391 code Abnormal Leak in Accumulator. My mechanic replaced the accumulator and erased the codes but after a day of driving the warning lights all came back on and Freeze Frame Data showed C1391. He says it is time to replace the ABS Actuator module. The part# in my 2011 RX450h is 44510-48080. While searching for the part on ebay and other sites there is also another replacement part# that seems to be compatible - Part# 44050-48320.
Are Parts# 444510-48080 and 4050-48320 intercjhangable, are they the same part or is one an outdated part# and superceded?
My car isnt covered by the warranty unfortunately
Save your receipt. I have a 2013 Rx450h, after I replaced the ABS actuator module in 2020, earlier this year, I finally received a letter from Lexus. Now they have a "customer support program" cover this problem for 2013-2015 RX450h, oand NX300h, (2015-2016) and 2016 ES300h. Dealer would fix this problem for free, and you can submit for reimbursement for out of pocket repair you paid before.
I think Lexus/Toyota know very clearly there is a problem with this part. Just look up for the various "customer support program" they rolled out. Their strategy is for newer model, they would use the warranty to cover it. For older model, well, they just wait it out. When I had the issue, I could see they have such support program for 2009 to 2010 model 450h. Cost saving!!
For cars stuck in the middle, no coverage yet, but I think you just have to pay for it yourself and wait until they "support" your model.
Thanks - I've already ordered the part and it is on the way in the post, so ill save the receipt. Hopefully my year will be covered and I can get reimbursed

Were there any signs/symptoms prior to your actuator going out?
My 2013 Rx450h started the "sea lion" noise last year (~114k miles). It is occasional even when car is off. Seems less in cold weather but maybe just because it started last year before winter. Recent rear brakes done and dealer mentioned it was the brake actuator and no safety issue. He casually mentioned about $1k to replace.
I did get the Customer Support Program mail for the brake booster and pump but dealer said not applicable to my car...
I get no lights or codes..... So guess I deal with it... not spending that money (and I am sure its lots more) for a noise ....
have the same issue on 2022 at 22,500 miles. Started about 2,000 miles ago. Told not to worry and have addressed at next service. Took in today and told the whole module had to be replaced. Very disappointed.

Looking back : My brake actuator always made that ABS chirping sound while the brake pedal was moderately pressed.
I even bought the issue to the west palm beach lexus dealership, but they claimed that this is how the hybrid works!
I contacted Lexus and they asked me to take it to Lexus dealer @ palm beach for diagnosis.
After Spending $400, i get a estimate of $3700 from the dealer.
Lexus is ready to pay $1000 towards the cost of replacing ABS actuator.
I think, there are lot more cases of ABS failing in Hybrids, and somehow they are able to hide it from nhtsa (national highway traffic safety administration).
I couldn't believe that a well engineered car like the Lexus would risk customer safety by using inferior parts!

Enjoy the warranty [2022 with 20K miles]. If there is typo in year/milage I can understand sad/unhappy/disappointed but "very"?
