Yep and it's probably a very reliable car but it's still a Kia. You will notice where they cut corners once you own one. They have to to keep the pricing where it is. I owned an Azera (Hyundai) for five years - 4 door sedan same class as the ES but thousands less. It was a great car but just doesn't compare to Lexus.

I've sat in a US version in Lexus Palm Beach and driven/ordered a UK version.

Two cars, two different factories. The US version is assembled in Kentucky and the UK version in Japan of which 700 build slots are scheduled.

The US offering includes a non-hybrid and a 302 hp V6 option. There is also a full-length opening panoramic roof option. None of these are available in the UK.

What is curious is that Lexus UK advertising on TV, their website and brochure portray the left-hand drive version even though both we and the Japs drive on the wrong side.

Just as curious is that the UK car magazines have given the ES a 3 out of 5 rating, probably because the 4-cylinder car is slower than a BMW and the journalists never got taken for a slap-up lunch.

We Brits only get the 300h. Same with the RC, NX, IS. The only V6 we get is with the RX 450h. We’d love an RC350 but we can’t have it.
Sure, we get most of the toys but we pay big bucks. A loaded ES is over £46k. You do the math(s).
Our biggest gripe, bar the 350 motors, is Apple CarPlay, or rather the lack of it. We don’t have it and are very unlikely to get it despite a lot of negative comments on social media to both Toyota and Lexus.
We also don’t get things like remote start but we do have power fold/tilt mirrors as standard.😗

Cheers

All ES 300h sold in the US are built in Japan. Most, but not all, ES 350 sold in the US are built in Kentucky.

I purchased my ES 350 F Sport in late August 2019 - it was assembled in Japan. I’m guessing Japan built the initial quantities until the Kentucky plant could meet capacity. The US-version ES 350 should be the same, regardless of where it was assembled.

Default 2019 Lexus ES Takumi

Hey Guys,

The ES is as stunning car, the Takumi pack takes the car to the next level with the rear blinds and rear reclining heated seats! Would love to own one, very different from my RC and IS.

I made a video on the ES Takumi for anyone that wants to check it out?

Talking Very impressed with the ES 300h Takumi

Hey Everyone,

I love the new ES and the Takumi spec is unreal, it has everything from rear heated reclining seats to electric blinds to radar cruise control. It is a very comfortable car that can get 50mpg easily. I drive an IS and I can see/feel the difference, very impressed!

I made a video of the ES Takumi if anyone would like to see it?

Sedans with rear reclining seats require a chauffeur, make sure to set aside some funds to cover their salary.

The Takumi package is not available in North America. Here is the UK/Europe brochure which shows the rear seat option on page 45 (23/33): https://l1-cms.images.lexus-europe.c...57-1671218.pdf

I would have loved to have seen a picture of that in action.
