2017 ES350 here. I must one of the lucky ones as I am getting about 30 mpg on average. Most of my drive is highway (doing about 70 mph), but I mix in some city trips here and there and average out at 30.

I get about 29-33, depends on how I drive. My commute is a good mix of city and highway. I only use regular gas, too. 17mpg is really low in my opinion. I'd get that checked out.

A few possibilities:
-Bad O2 sensor
- spark plugs
- fuel filter
- fuel pump
- fuel injectors
- Mass Airflow Sensor
- Air Filter
- tires

Does the car feel like it's dragging? One of your brake calipers might be sticking.

Also, try to take it out of the city and see how you do there.

Good luck!

i resetted ecu and took it on a 100 mile ride.

on eco going about 70-80 mph all highway i averaged 26.2 mpg, i'm happy with this. could be better if i drove it very light footed.

A few days after that, I took my first 2 hour freeway trip. For that trip, I got 30 or 32 mpg.

Last month, I tried the same 2 hour freeway trip in sport mode. I still got 30 or 31 mpg on that trip.

The past several weeks, I have been only doing sport mode. I want to see what I can get on a full tank of gas, with the same driving routes I had before (so hardly any freeway). If I can do that, then I will report back.
Contrary to my usual driving pattern, the last tank of gas did include one moderate freeway trip. Usually I have either no freeway trips, or 1 or 2 very small freeway trips.

I was getting 16.9 mpg before the freeway trip (which was near the end of the gas tank life). After the freeway trip, It went to 18.8. The tank finished at 18.6. Again, 97% of my driving is city driving.

The next time I have a tank that follows my usual pattern, I will report back.

I took a long freeway trip, the same one that I usually take a few times a year. This time it was in SPORT mode. I got 32.0 mpg.

This is consistent to what I'd get in ECO mode for the same trip, over the past few years. I'd get 30 - 32 mpg, whenever I took it before.

Any fuel economy benefits that might come from using the ECO mode are less likely to appear on a long highway trip than they would be likely to appear with local in town driving. When you are taking a highway trip, you will be spending most of your time cruising at a constant speed. When driving at a constant speed, the mode that you are using becomes irrelevant. On the other hand, when you are doing more stop-and-go driving and when you are more frequently accelerating and decelerating, that is when the driving mode would make more difference.

Have only had mine for about six weeks now, therefore I have only limited experience, but in mostly highway driving I'm getting right at 24-25mpg. We'll have a bit of a road trip in a few months and I easily expect to beat 30+ en route.

Default One year mileage check

Have owned my new 2018 for almost a year now, and logged 14,000 miles, so I thought I’d check my mileage against the car computer. I drive in Normal mode all the time, and over 3 tank fulls, the car computer registered 26.4 mpg and my manual computation was 26.2. That was 60% highway at 70mph, and 40% stop and go in town. So kudos to the car computer for accuracy.

Very pleased with my 3rd ES. Paid $36k for Luxury model after email competitive bidding, including discount and rebate. Has everything UL except upgraded leather, pano roof, and ML. Lucky it came with Michelin’s! Rides better now than when new, so a break-in period does work.

2014, just coming up on 70,000 miles. Showing average of 24 USGPM (first owner was city/commuter), 27.2 mpg average since I acquired it (based on pump-Odo readings), usual pure city driving of 22, usual highway (65-75 mph) of 32 mpg, best ever at 70 of 32.5 mpg. All volumes referred to US gallons. I usually drive in econo unless passing trucks/buses/rvs in the mountains demands “right now”.

2017 ES350 14K miles on her.

Average ~19MPG (Actual filled divided by miles method). 80% stop/go during SF bay area traffic hours. Not a slow driver and also Normal mode.
On pure non-stop highway at 75-80MPH, I average 27-8 MPG.

I just bought a 2018 ES350 and I'm on my 5th tank, driving about 70/30 hwy/city, and I'm getting about 28 mpg.

My first 3 tanks I drove the whole tank in Eco, then Normal for next tank, and Sport for the third, and I got 28,28,27. Statistically not much of a difference.

since the test I have been driving the highways in sport mode because the steering seems slightly stiffer, although that might be my imagination.

Been tracking my mileage; 19.7 mpg average throughout. I do mostly city driving with the occasional Highway drive to go hiking or something

I do have a slightly heavy foot on the gas, but nothing crazy. I cruise the highway at 50-60 mph.

my avg mpg is at 18.4.
I think this car is listed at 21 city / 31 highway.

i'm nowhere close to that.

Maybe i need to reset ECU to re-learn my driving style?
Would love to hear what others are getting as far as mpg on their V6 ES.
I do about the same driving on my 2014 ES350 and get about 25 MPG.

Just got back.from a weekend road trip between Oklahoma City and Dallas, and my '15 ES 350 snagged 32.5 mpg on screen, and that'll calculate to right.at 32 even when I calc on refill. And that's a three-hour highway drive, with probably three or four slowdowns for accidents/construction. I was well over 34 when we hit the first slowdown in a construction zone. No eco or sport mode.

City mileage is considerably lower, probably 22-25, but 90% of my driving is hwy at 60+. Optimal speed/mileage combo seems to be cruise at 70. Seems to level off/ebb at about 75.

Gas is 87 Octane reg 10% ethanol.

I just bought a 2019 ES 350 with 47,000 miles on it. I was deciding between this one and the hybrid ES. I’m glad I picked the 350. Most of my driving is highway. So far I’m averaging about 34-35 with a mix of about 80% highway with some city mixed in. I always keep it in eco mode. There is no advantage to having the hybrid unless you do city driving a lot because the hybrid and gas versions get about the same mpg. And with the 350, you get the added flexibility to drive it sporty if you want to. And as much as I want to like hybrids, I just hate driving CVTs. They are so boring. The 350 has such nice, smooth power and if you want to put it in sport mode and have some fun, it has plenty of power to satisfy me at least. I don’t need a car that goes 0-60 at the speed of light. 6 seconds is plenty fast enough for me.
