Who has had to replace Hybrid Battery?
With all the talk of Hybrid battery life being in the neighborhood of 10-15 years, I see lots of questions and concerns, but thats about it.
Who has had to replace their hybrid battery?
How old was your vehicle and mileage?
Who replaced it and what was the cost?

The hybrid battery in my 2008 failed in 2011 with approx 42,000 miles. I purchased the car as a certified used with 40,000 miles in 2010. The dealer had to order the battery as there were only 2 in the USA, and I was in Arizona and the closest was in Southern Texas. The dealer had never replaced a battery and said the trucking of the battery would be 4 days. They gave me a free RV to use and no cost to me for the battery or labor. No issues since and we now have approx 84,000 trouble free miles, except a radiator started leaking and I got that replaced. Love the car and had they not changed the front end look to what we don't care for we would have purchased a new one. .

My 08 RX400h kept displaying "Check Hybrid System" at 230,000 miles. I used the torque app to check the module voltages when in neutral with the A/C cranked and module 3 showed 17.4V while the other 14 showed 19.1 or higher. Lexus wanted $4600 to replace the hybrid battery. However a friend just totaled his RX400h which had 96,000 miles on it and I convinced him to sell me his hybrid battery for $1100. I still have my old hybrid battery. Does anyone know where I can sell it? A hybrid battery company in Stanton, CA offered me $400 but as I live in Camarillo, CA that would be about a 2 hour drive.

Thanks for the advice. Got the listing up(https://ventura.craigslist.org/pts/d...983614079.html). We'll see if I get any bites. By the way I agree with you about the new front end. I don't find it appealing. Lexus has been putting that hour glass grill on all their cars and I'm not a fan. It looks particularly odd on the RX.

Changing the HV battery was not hard at all. I followed this video and had no issues:
The hardest part was lifting the battery. The Toyota spec says it weighs 152 lbs. I had 2 friends help me lift it in and out. Once I changed the HV battery the car started no problem. However, I immediately test drove it and the check engine light came and the car went into limp mode a couple of blocks from my house. I think the issue was that the HV battery had been sitting unused for 6 months and had dropped to a lower than usual charge. To remedy the problem I drove home in limp mode, cleared the check engine codes and let the cars idle in park for about 15 minutes to charge the HV battery. After that everything was fine. I did the HV battery change about 3 weeks ago and have driven about 800 miles without any issues.

There are only a couple steps in the video where they recommend using the high voltage gloves. I did buy a pair from Amazon and used them. The ones I got from Amazon were Magid M011B gloves and Magid 12501PS leather sleeves.

I recently bought a 3Rx with about 113k miles on it. Lexus of glendale changed the hybrid battery when the car had 94k miles on it. The car is running great.
i changed the hybrid battery on my Prius at 135k miles with a refurbished one.

At just over 200k miles, I'm afraid my hybrid battery finally gave up the ghost today
"Check Hybrid Sys" light and Traction Ctrl light came on, but car was still running. I pulled over, turned off the engine, and could not start back up.
Car is in the shop, should know more tomorrow. What do you guys think? Tow truck driver thinks it "could be the fuse" because of the yellow triangle with exclamation mark (huh???)
If it's indeed the hybrid battery, what's a reasonable quote to replace it? (so I'll know when they call me tomorrow.)
Thanks.
