LS600HL DIY Hybrid Battery replacement(using Prius cells)

Argonfatl, Congratulations on the success of this project. This conversion to Prius cells gives us hope that if the oem batteries become unavailable in the future LS600HL owner can still revive their cars.
Out of curiosity can you explain why the last readings show Best MPG 51.0 and Average MPG 26.0. If those are true figures then this is an astounding upgrade. It may be worth it to modify the cells just to get those incredible gas mileage even if your cells are not failing.

When I got a car it's was showing 51mpg best.
But the average is real and reflect actual performance

Also since you have experience with installing the hybrid battery how difficult would it be to just replace the oem battery with a new one. Could someone just buy a new one and hook it up themselves or would it be relatively simple for a independent shop to do the job.

replace with OEM will probably take a day just because of the process of taking the rear seat apart.
It depends on your model. I have an executive package with entertainment and massage it's making the process more complicated.

Hi. I used mixed 2 gen and 3 gen and so far not noticed any difference in resistance.
There was a change in the ls600 battery style after 09(10+). I believe after 09(10+) you need to disassemble the AC system in the trunk to remove the battery. Not 100% but what I heard is that the battery is one block on top of another. And because of that you can't just slide it out.

I defer to argonfatl on the specific details (which he shared), but I can attest to the change beginning in MY 2010. From a practical standpoint, right off the bat, the 600 has more trunk space than for MY 2008-09.
I was mistaken it's the bottom tier 4th gen that's supposed to have the lower resistance . Toyota claimed they used better nickel.
Have you noticed any difference in performance beyond mpg since the swap ?

1. I'm struggeling removing ottoman seat and central console. Could you please describe how you did it?
2. I tried calculating battery modules with Ni-MH AA batteries. Somehow those are of the size that fit dimmension of the orginal module and also voltage (12 X 1.2 = 14.4). On top of that the capacity of such modules is almost 5kWh (84batteries X 20 modules, 1.2V X 2.4Ah) and the price is way lower than what the original lexus battery costs here (4000euros). Where am I making misteake?
