hi guys,
At my 105,000 kilometer service (first out of warranty), they discovered 2 issues which I find not matching the famous lexus guarantee of quality:
1. Leaking water pump, which was replaced....(now I'm thinking this might be common issue and should be done under warranty)
2. Changed Brake Pads and Brake Discs at 105K kilometers. I wasn't surprised about the pads...this was the original ones, but the discs aswell ??? Note that I'm rather easy driver...
What do you think....is this normal ?...or is the NX not worthy of the Lexus badge ? My GS with 300,000km is still having the original water pump, and only front discs replaced at 250,000 KM !! Thats a real Lexus at least...(knock on wood).

hybrids typically have 2 water pumps. One has failed. Show me another manufacturer's hybrid car that can go 100k without a water pump failure..Your rotors also lasted this long due to regenerative braking.Newer cars are less reliable relatively speaking due to the global move towards cost cutting/subscription pay per use model/leasing etc where nobody really keeps a car for 100k plus/10 years etc

thanks for the reply. Just to be clear then it was 100,000 kilometers (not miles)....and it probably cracked much earlier...leaked got noticed at this service interval.
Sure, I'm not saying this could not happen, but if its a part that is generally failing earlier than expected, then I would think Lexus could just quietly replace this part during warranty service rather then having it hurt the lexus reputation...
I can live with that, however, that the brake disc needed replacement at this time, was very surprising, considering the re-generating mechanism that is supposed to result in the opposite, I would think...and bear in mind that I don't drive aggressively.....
But I agree....it looks like Lexus might be going the same route as other manufacturers and cut cost on some parts....but then its not a Lexus anymore in my mind.
Then I might as well just get something new every 3 years which drives perfectly fine and costs alot less, right![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My GS feels like a Lexus, and the old SC I tested the other day...also felt like a Lexus...but I'm not sure if the NX is will deliver that in the long term, but too early to say.

Usually rotors don't need to be replace after just one set of pads unless it is warped, has heat spots, cracks, groves, etc. Do you have any of these conditions?
If not I'd say check with another mechanic.

Thanks for the comment.....I had them replace the disc/rotor, so not sure what it was. Anyway, its not like its a disaster...just fishing if there are more NX owners out there who had same issue.
I'm a big fan of Lexus...bought a 1999 IS 200 (new one), then I moved to GS 300 (1999) and then replaced it in 2005 with another GS 300 (newer body), which I have now driven 300,000 km....love the car and still is a nice car. But I had also bad experience.....with a Lexus RX300 (1999) which I owned as well for several years and drove 150,000 km, but it completely failed when it was up to 220,000 with transmission failure and catalyst converter failures.....I had to write it off.
But planning to get 2005 430SC to keep in the garage![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So I'm hoping that Lexus is not going the "cheap" route, and that my NX will stay nice for a bit more then 100,000 km ! Otherwise happy with the NX, though the CVT transmission is a bit annoying at times (and then wishing it had my GS engine in the bay
, but then I want to have the SC to put a smile on my face on a sunny day !
