I searched the ES forum and no one seems to have had this problem. 2013 ES300h, bought new from a dealer. Just after its 45K-mile service a couple of weeks ago, check hybrid battery error appeared. I scanned the vehicle using Carista, and P0A80 code appeared (replace hybrid battery pack). Vehicle remains driveable but the electric engine is disabled.
Brought the vehicle to the dealership and they returned to me with the same error code. The service advisor said that a couple of cells were bad and that parts were ordered. I asked a different service advisor in the same dealership and was told that the entire hybrid battery pack will be replaced. Luckily, the vehicle still has 1 more year of hybrid warranty left.
I was wondering if Lexus would replace the entire battery pack, or only those bad cells? And whether the hybrid system warranty will be extended after the repair/replacement?

Sounds like questions you should be asking the dealer. On replacing individual cells I don't think Lexus does that unless things have changed recently.

well lexus replace a part under warranty they will extend that part warranty for 1 year from the date of replacement incase of warranty expiring this is what the parts department told me at my local dealership I was concerned due to the fact they they tested my 12v battery and it was saying bad battery my basic warranty expired 3 months erlier from age and was already 20k over which is not un normal for me to drive in 3-4 months
then i was worried i would be like 300-400 out of pocket for a new 12v battery that is a special 12v due to it being in the trunk and being a hybrid i guess i don't know the technicals for it and all but not a normal store rack bought 12v the parts guy told me that when parts are replaced under warranty they will extend a warranty on them for when these types of things happen
but do not expect another 8 or 10 years 100k warranty again it wont happen
lexus doesn't even extend longer warrnaty on transmissions or engines that are replaced as customer pay parts its crazy
like you can go to almost any engine builder out there get a 3-5 year 100-200k warrnaty on engines and transmission but lexus only gives the same standard 12month unlimited mile nation wide warranty on those as they do all other parts that are bought oem from dealership parts departments

Lexus does not tear apart the battery pack to change the weak cells. They replace the whole traction battery with a new or reconditioned one.
An independent shop like DrPrius will test and replace the bad or weak cells, but the remaining cells could also fail in the future as well with more age and miles
