Default 2010 450h making low level grunt sound

I can't specifically describe the sound. It's not loud. It doesn't come on bumps or while braking. It comes while driving at lower speeds. There's no vibration or shaking at any speeds. Took the car to my mechanic and he couldn't identify the source. It seems to come from the lower left hand side. Like under the feet.

All toyota hybrids make sound when moving on electric power to warn pedestrians.

Does sound pulsate? Change with speed? Related to rotation? Related to ambient temperature, operating temperature?

Things that come to mind for me: Brakes (sticky caliper, minor rubbing), wheel bearing worn, hard tire (rubber getting older and more brittle, less round), strut (Yes, I've heard struts make noise flying straight and level when they are slightly damaged). If the issue is minor and rotation is slower then they could be more noticeable but as speed increases, road and wind noise increases and as rotation increases so does the frequency of sound sometimes also making it harder to hear going faster.

Otherwise, my guess would be one of : aardvarks, baboons, beavers, bears, bobcats, caribous, cats, cheetahs, chimps, chipmunks, cougars, coyotes, dingos, dogs, or ?

Thanks for your input. The sound definitely is at speeds under 50 because it's some kind of a metal sound. Like a clunking sound.
i failed to add that the shop replaced my lower control arms. They're going to take it apart today and see what's wrong.
Of all the possible other sources? I can safely eliminate everyone except cats

Default Brakes

I had Hyundai Sonata long time ago and one day it started making metal sound related with speed. Turned out it was a small stone stuck between brake pad and brake disc.

Solved. It was the strut bearings. Got them changed with the Struts and no noise. The ride has also improved a lot.

I don't know what a "strut bearing" is but I'm glad you've sorted your issue!.

Did you replace the other side too, as it too may be similarly worn?

Haha yes what I meant was Strut mount. Don't know why bearing stuck in my mind.
Yes I changed the mounts and Struts on both sides.
