I noticed the traction battery level indicator doesn’t fill all the way up, so I did some live data for State of Charge with a BlueDriver OBD2 scanner and with Toyota Techstream. During an extensive drive on the highway and around town I tried to charge it back up by coasting and braking as much as possible. The highest battery percentage I reached was 79.6%. Most of the time the battery sits at around 60%.
Is this a sign of a deteriorating traction battery or is the car designed to never go above a certain SoC by design?

Found some threads regarding this in the 4th gen RX forums. The consensus is that the batteries are designed to stay under 80% charge during normal operation to leave enough room for regenerative braking. So I guess this must be normal for the 3rd gen as well.
I had mine several times to full charge. Rolling down long hill in B mode does that. But yes, they are designed to never be fully charged and those gauges are for lay reference only.
