I tried to start my car, heard a loud clunk and saw a myriad of lights on dash. Unable to start, so tried the jump start technique in the manual. Car started fine. Screen showed the hybrid battery low. Drove around and got it charged. Car started fine next time I tried. Today, I tried to start again and got same results as first attempt. Does this indicate a bad 12 volt or a bad hybrid battery? As additional info, the car has ~187000 miles on it and has been trouble free up to now.

If it is just startup that is difficult, I suspect 12v. If it was the hybrid battery you would have codes and warnings.
That being said, I have just replaced both hybrid and 12v battery and it has refreshed the car. (Motor stays off longer, charge holds more).
If your steering wheel movement when you start and shut off the car seem to go slow, it's the 12v. Try replacing the 12v before the hybrid battery.

Thank you! Closest Lexus dealer is about 70 miles. I’m going to try to drive there and get this problem fixed. Love my 2013 GS 450h——so disappointed they discontinued the GS hybrids!
