Anyone know what happens if you have a full hybrid battery but still regen brake down a mountain? does it have a disconnect or divert the charge?

I was driving through the rocky mountains for work- about a 10 hour drive. Pushing the car pretty hard and coming from an Audi s4 to a big heavy sedan it does well.

Midway through the drive I had a full hybrid battery near the top of a mountain, partway through the decent, foot on the brake, I noticed the rpms increased ~2k-5k depending how fast I was going. this never occurred going down any other hill, i didn't know if it was over charging the battery and its trying to "engine brake" to slow down.
when I put my foot on the accelerator, the rpms dropped to idle and would increase according to normal throttle input. When I go to brake again (battery still full) rpms increased.

Everything went back to normal when battery capacity decreased but happened 2 more times under the same circumstances on that drive.
This is my first hybrid and first CVT
if anybody knows any info that would be great

This is perfectly Normal just let the ECU control it for you nothing to worry about i have had 3 450hs

This RPM increase happened to me going down some Blue Ridge mountains as well when battery was full. Don’t know why either, but it kept me from using the brakes as much.
