Understand, so on mine it took me a min to see it looked like a Black wood in some light too. I have not seen many GS's with that color wood is why I asked. Now I have seen many with the double stripe you have that mine does not have. I will take a clear pic and post of my color. Been meaning to research the Wood color name from something in the original 2013 GS350 Lux Lexus Sales info if I can find it.
Hey I am leading in corrections, don't try to catch me in slights. I had a arm surgery on my Elbow from 30 years of computer use and Network Engineering too may hours each day. Had a Elbow nerve problem, and torn ligaments in the elbow. Orthoscopic cubital tunnelsyndrome and repair of a damaged and torn Tendon. Between those 2 surgery's at the same time, and some strong opioid meds for some serious pain. I'm still recovering and am about to limit my typing dysfunction and brain dysfunctions on Meds for a while. I've looked back at some thoughts & things I typed and went WTF was I talking about and typing, myself.
I need to put a temporary disclosure in my Sig for a while that I may not be fully responsible for my grammar and thoughts. lol!
jgscott - We have something in common! I had torn the sheath of my ulnar nerve at my left elbow (where the ulnar nerve rubs in the bony groove we call the funny bone of the elbow) causing pins-n-needles numbness sensation in my middle finger, ring finger and pinky finger of my left hand, to the extent it was beginning to start atrophy of my left hand at the base (web) of my left thumb. I had what is called transposition of the ulnar nerve (also called Cubital Tunnel Release Surgery) where the surgeon performs a procedure to move the ulnar nerve from behind the medial epicondyle to a more suitable position where it is not irritated or pinched by the bony prominence (funny bone groove) that rubbed and tore the sheath of my ulnar nerve. The ulnar nerve was repositioned away from my elbow to underneath some muscle tissue on the underside of my left forearm. The nerve specialist surgeon somehow repaired the torn sheath before transpositioning it away from my elbow. It took a couple of years to lose the full extent of the pins-n-needles numbness sensation in my three fingers. I played competitive tournament golf for many decades and likely first damaged my ulnar nerve by over-practicing. I also had a habit of resting my chin on my left palm (as I viewed the PC monitor and moved the mouse) which put a lot of downward pressure on my left elbow at the ulnar nerve, which didn't help matters. If the ulnar nerve protrudes outside of the bony groove (funny bone) leaning on the elbow will compress the nerve and damage the sheath...and would eventually kill the nerve if it were to remain compressed. Anyway - that's my elbow nerve problem story that required surgery on my elbow years ago.
Wow! So about how long did it take for it to heal back and be used better than it was before the Surgery?
I'm just starting some PT, but I am not happy with how it is at this point from the Surgery's on 10-29-21. I had likely some of the same of the nerve problems in addition to the tendon. I had the tingling, burning, numbness, weakness, feeling like I hit a funny bone is the same bottom of hand arm and fingers. Just I am right handed and it was the right.

It took a couple years before it was 95% or more back to normal. Regaining strength was not difficult, but the lingering pins-in-needles sensation in those three fingers the ulnar nerve controls was a bit slower to get rid of. I was able to regain good golf swing form and play competitive golf sooner than I anticipated. I asked the nerve surgeon if what he was doing for me would be the same as what he would do for Tiger Woods if he had the same problem - and he said; 'absolutely'! It was done at Baptist Medical Hospital in North Carolina where the surgeon was a renowned leader in nerve repair and taught at the hospital.
Thankfully I had no torn tendons or ligaments - just the damaged sheath of the ulnar nerve at my elbow's boney groove where the ulnar nerve resides (a.k.a the 'funny bone').

The more I look at my UJ wood trim with the double silver inlay stripes, the more the wood looks black with beautiful grain - a very elegant black. When the wood trim is in the shade, overcast or evening conditions is when the wood trim really looks black. Quite a nice and unique look!

Yes I like it. Sometimes it looks kinda Espresso looking. Like you said sometimes Black, sometimes a like mix of Black/Brown.
Great looking car! Would love to see more photos of the interior with that dark wood.
Whoops meant to reply to bclexus sorry!
bloodbean - It's actually difficult to capture in photos what is seen in-person when the blackish wood trim with small grain is in the shade or during overcast skies or evening hours. The wood trim has the slightest amount of dark brown tone that seems to disappear when strong light conditions diminish.
These images (below) is about as close as I can get to it, which includes the pair of silver (actually aluminum I believe) parallel inlay stripes that are laser cut (see video below) into the wood trim. The wood trim is highly polished like the wood on a high-end Yamaha piano would be polished.
The Lexus wood trim is designated 'UJ' and called 'UJ Laser Cut Wood Trim' which was installed at the factory.
Some Lexus LS and RX models had this type of wood trim installed. Very unique...

Funny that you just brought this up again because I rarely see the Wood Brown. Except every time when I have tried to get a pic of it, then it's Brown.
So I caught this pic today of course driving where the iphone did not see it as Brown but instead Black, with no grain like I saw it. I'm going to catch it sooner or later and get the whole thing. Crazy it's like I have 2 different Woods. One Dark Brown and one Black Black Formica.
Here is the best I could get so far.
But it actually looks like this. Also sometimes just looks straight semi Gloss Black. Reminds me of looking for a exact color Interior Wall paint with little paint samples.
Just looked back at the pics both of us posted. Nobody would believe that its straight Piano Black sometimes by our pics. But it is. Crazy! LOL!
It sure does not like being photographed that color.
You're right about it not liking to be photographed. Your wood trim is not the same as what I have.
My wood trim is like this.
This image (below) of my wood trim was taken under very high lumen lighting which washes out the black and displays the brown tone. You can see the two pairs of two parallel laser cut aluminum inlays in the wood trim that matches the above image.

Those of you that have asked for my thoughts about the GS 450h after owning and driving it a while - I am extremely pleased with it. The car is clearly very well made, and I wouldn't doubt if Lexus made sure the GS 450h model received added scrutiny and a touch more quality for exacting owners. The car drives very smoothly and quietly. The data information provided is far more than what my GS 350 offered.
The car is rock solid - it has no rattles or irritating noises from the interior or exterior. Everything works perfectly and everything looks pristine. The eCVT is wonderfully smooth and quiet - far better than I ever imagined it would be, and very different from the regular CVT transmissions in other vehicles I've experienced. The traction motor and battery work together marvelously and the traction motor and ICE work in conjunction with each other flawlessly and quite unnoticeably. When the ICE is needed, it comes on and drops off smoothly and silently. If I learned that NASA designed the GS 450h's hybrid drivetrain - it would not surprise me - that's just how impressive it is...
Toyota and Lexus hit a bases-loaded, game-winning, homerun with the GS 450h in my opinion!
If I could snap my fingers and add or change a little something - I would add a holder for sunglasses and a wireless charger for a smart phone.
I find the car quite amazing and an inspiration to drive. The hybrid drivetrain adds to the excitement.
The only thing I find a little bit unsettling is my tendency to sometimes pay too much attention to the available energy and data information the car provides when I should have my full attention on driving.
I feel very fortunate to have found a 2018 GS 450h in my preferred color combination with only 5,600 miles on the odometer in perfect condition.
I could not be any more pleased with it.
