The only issue I have with my 13 CVT is when doing highway speeds, letting off the accelerator and then getting back on it; it is like going from neutral to drive at 60+. Other than that, it is fine. I've yet to try the paddle shifters as I don't see a need for them even when getting on it.

So, from what you said I take it that it feels like it's engaging a gear that is not 'rev matched' - therefore it's not perfectly smooth when you get back on it, correct?
Yes, like it is not rev matched. Other than that, I have no real complaints.
Weird, I haven't experienced anything abnormal with my eCVT. I drive the car in normal mode 98% of the time, smoother than any normal automatic I've driven in. I believe in not touching the lifetime transmission fluid and 116k+ miles, no issues.
I am not saying it is an issue just an observation of differences between cvt and legacy automatics. I am currently <48K on my GSh. I don't recall having this issue on our RX400h but I very rarely drive it.

That's what I have experienced thus far too - smoother than a normal automatic transmission. What I was most curious about was whether the GS 450h's eCVT would react like many other [typical] CVTs (non - eCVT) that give you the sensation the transmission's clutches are slipping with elevated rpm and a whine sound before engaging the next gear. Thankfully I have not had any resemblance of that. Of course with CVTs there really is no 'next gear" as we typically know it. I could not be happier with how the GS 450h's eCVT performs.
I do find the eCVT quite smooth when driving. I fool around with the pedals to downshift to help slow down if I am coming up to a light. But as people pointed out, they really don’t do anything to upshift them when accelerating it seems. I have replaced the sunroof seal and original 12V battery (which lasted 8 years). Other than that, my 2013 has 64k miles on it, and only has been driven by me approx. 9000 miles since purchasing in 2019. A really nice car which is a rare one as well. I have not seen another one anywhere in Florida or while traveling either. I figure it will take me 8 more years to reach 100k, then maybe I will consider something else. Just hope the traction battery lasts that time frame.

Those gears in manual mode are fake. The engine revs to imitate a manual/automatic transmission, when in reality your not doing anything that's going to make it go any faster. Virtual shift points, all electronically controlled. The computer adjusts the cvt to a pre-set ratio that simulates a gear shift.

I installed the magnesium paddle shifters from the LC to make my car go faster lol. No really just for looks. Yeah I don't think there is a practical use for the paddle shifters and simulated shift points.

I've found that using the downshift paddle provides a really nice, smooth braking effect without having to use the brakes to slow down. But, then you don't gain the regenerative energy to charge the battery provided by braking with the brakes...
The engine braking and holding RPMs (and disallowing the engine from shutting off) are the only useful effects from manual mode on this car. For outright acceleration it doesn't matter - let it do its thing, change to a shorter rear end if you want it faster. You can't "command" MG2 to shift back to its "high torque" gear or anything potentially useful along the lines.

But yeah, not many useful benefits. Before purchasing my GS450h, I was seriously considering & test drove at the IS350 F-Sport. Fun vehicle, but the thing that I didn't enjoy is what Lexus calls "manual" mode is not truly manual (I had experience owning/tracking pure manual cars like the Mazda Miata) since it doesn't hold gears that are selected but will auto-upshift for you.
