Is Dr. Prius worth getting for a Toyota/Lexus Hybrid Owner?
Is Dr. Prius/Dr. Hybrid worth getting for a Toyota/Lexus hybrid owner? Or is it best to forget about trying to analyze the traction battery's health and just drive the vehicle?

No, no worth getting. You can’t tell when a hybrid battery is going to fail by monitoring voltage blocks. However if you really care, you should data log the temperature of the batteries to ensure the cooling is in good order.

Peasodos is correct. I used it to scan a car I was going to buy, it scared me didn't buy it at first, then drove all the way bck to CT to buy it. No issues and I won't run it again because I really don't want to know now lol

Dr Prius monitor screen is free. The other functions are paid features.
You can just download it for free and take a look at the voltage spread and the resistance while driving.
Here is one I took of my RX450h.
I wouldn’t pay for it. Very unstable and keeps crashing.

Has anyone had their hybrid battery "reconditioned" for longer life? I found a place besthybrid.com said they would do it for under $700. Shipping by freight would be $400 and they would replace any bad cells for $50

The only preventative maintenance I would do is to ensure the battery fans are free of dust and hair for optimal cooling. As heat kills.

Ok. I'll stop thinking about it. I would like to check on how dirty my cooling system is, as I am over 100k now. Do you have to remove seat or can you get to it from trunk?
Sorry to be off topic, but have you guys changed your coolant/inverter at 100k? (if you are there yet) I was thinking of getting the test strips.
How many miles do you guys have now? I haven't seen a post if anyone has had to change out the battery pack yet on 4th Gen. I did check on the price though. Refurb are hard to find at this time. They want $3500 for refurb and Dealer $6k

Thank you so much peasodos! Could you possibly post the engine coolant instructions as well? Doesn't say on maintenance schedule when to change that, but everyone seems to concur 100k

Still in the distant future, but would anyone consider getting a Lithium ion traction battery upgrade when yours gives out? A lot lighter +more energy dense.
Hopefully vehicle programing will utilize it.
Been a few prius conversions lately + new gen Toyotas are coming out with them . Results look promising
Same with the 12V Battery. there's a brand called AntiGravity batteries, super light batteries like 5-15lb, mainly for race cars. I'd consider it if they have a model that can support the load our vehicles need - haven't browsed their catalog yet.
Future maintenance planning
Hopefully vehicle programing will utilize it.

See attached video I shot while driving in the city you can see all of the above, regen braking charge, acceleration discharge and in the final 30-60s EV-only driving with more discharge

From what I have read, Lithium just won't work right in our cars long term. There would have to be a totally different charging system and algorithm.
