60k service..
So I’m just rolling up on 60k in my H. Planning on taking to the the Stealership for the service. Anything that I should have then look at? What should I expect from the 60k service?
As a side note this will be my first major service on the car. Bought it with 31K on the clock.
TIA.

I just had my 60k service completed yesterday. I don't have a hybrid but hopefully my info can help give you a better picture of what to expect. This was my first service under the CPO Warranty so, it was complimentary. I was told that the cost would've been $600+. I forget what the exact amount was. From what I can tell based on my inspection and the invoice, it appears that they went by the book and completed everything listed in the checklist for the 72mo./60k Service as it appears in the Scheduled Maintenance Log. You can find yours on the Lexus website or search and download your vehicle's Warranty and Services Guide. You may also have a copy of the guide in your vehicle. I'll attach an image for you to see the 60k list for my non-hybrid.
As for what you might want them to look at, I would suggest looking at the lists of scheduled maintenance from 35k-60k and take note of anything that might be of importance. I'm basing that on your statement that you haven't had any major service since about 30k. Good luck.

It is interesting that the 60k service says to replace spark plugs. Yet we have people here who say the spark plugs should maybe be changed at 100k miles or more. I believe they are the Iridium/Platinum super turbo charged spark plugs which are supposed to last 100k. So my question is, how many people changed their spark plugs at 60k, and are they going to change them at 120k? I only drive 3k miles per year, so it would take me another 18 years before I hit 120k miles. Darn, my car would be considered a classic then. I may be one of the few cars on the road using Petrol at that time…..

On my previous car, 2002 Toyota Camry XLE V6, I traded it in with about 305k/mi. I had only changed the spark plugs twice. The first time was around 150k and the second was just prior to hitting the 300k mark. At both intervals the car was running just fine. At the 150k mark I changed them because I thought it was a good time to do it. At the 300k mark I did it because I had a misfire code on cylinder 2. Both times I swapped in Denso iridium plugs.
BTW, since this is the Hybrid section of the forum, I thought I'd share some images of the RX450h I was loaned during my 60k service. It was decent and the first hybrid I've ever driven. My only issue was that it had just been returned and they didn't get a chance to clean it. It was covered in salt due to recent snow.

The 60k spark plug change is for the Emissions Control Warranty as noted in the Scheduled Maintenance Log and can be seen in the image that I shared. The log also lists spark plug change at 120k for the same reason and the log ends at the 180k mark. The plugs can definitely go 120k/mi. in between changes. I think that some of the disagreements are for those who don't follow the Scheduled Maintenance Log for different reasons. For instance, if your car is out of warranty but you haven't reached 60k/mi. or 120k/mi. then there most likely is no real reason to change the spark plugs assuming they are performing normally. After that it's just a matter of whether you want to pay someone to do the job even though the plugs could go much longer or spend the time to do it yourself, (It's an easy job for most with a little DiY experience on this car).

Totally agree!

Thanks BCLexus. I believe my plugs were changed during my CPO two year period. I felt bad for them to do four services on the car, and I only had put about 6k miles on it over those two years. The looks of the RX 450h don’t do it for me. I mean if I was looking for a SUV type. I still enjoy the clean lines of the GS sedan. No crease angle things in the door. No jutting out rear headlights. And of course, no huge cow tipping front grille. I know I am partial, but the 13-15 model year was the sweet spot for the Lexus design in the GS and RX. At least for me. And the engines haven’t changes 7 to 9 years later. Well, except the GS which has no engine now…..
