Hi all. I'm not sure if this is a general problem or a es300h problem.
I own a 2016 es300h as my daily driver.
Recently the RPMS for the car were high and I wasn't sure if it was just me being lead footed after driving my LC500 so much. However I realize now something is likely wrong with the vehicle.
I took the car in to autozone but when they ran the computer for codes no codes came back.
When I start the car it will idle at around 1,000 RPM.
Normally when I drive as I get faster it will raise up a bit and then drop down (IE cruising speed for highway is like 2,000-2500) but now it wont ever drop down. I have to really baby it to keep it around the 4500-5k rpm mark.
I took a look under the hood. There doesn't seem to be anything blocking the air filter... no hoses seem to be leaking. Not sure what else to check and hoped someone here might know.
Dealer quoted me 200 bucks just to look at the car and diagnose which would suck if its just a tiny part needs to be replaced..
Any insight before I take it in?
Thanks a ton.

meaning if I don’t press the gas at all it sits at 1k. Eventually ev kicks in and it drops down to 0
if I actually drive the car it will just go up and up and at cruising speed it’s like 4-6000 rpm.
normally when you drive it will start going up and then shift and the Rpm drop. It’s not doing this.

sounds like you’re in manual mode (instead of drive) and it’s emulating a “first gear”.
What I suggest you do is when your shifter is in D, check Techstream to see if the computer thinks you’re in D or some other position in the Engine ECU.

My car is doing similar, seems fine idling and going into battery power. I drive a lot on the interstate and now when I push the gas say I am at 60 trying to go up to 80, the car RPM's go super high, but the engine doesn't seem to shift gears or speed up. Before, when you hit the gas especially in sport mode the car was so responsive and it sped up really fast. Now, it takes forever for the engine to shift and the car to speed up and for the RPM's to drop back down. My wife and daughter share my car with me and they all are experiencing it as well. I took it in to my trusted mechanic and he drove it and hooked it up to the computer and he said nothing triggered and it drives like the transmission should. It just doesn't feel right. I am not a car guy, so I am not sure of all the terminology or causation, but the car is not responsive to the gas pedal like it used to be.
