My wife mentioned that is appears that our NX350h Luxury apparently came with the side and back windows pre-tinted, or at least darker than usual (not complaining)!

Yes. They are tinted. I bought a Caviar NX with black interior so I decided to take mine and have aftermarket light tint installed on the two front two windows and added to the factory tint on the rear windows and the lift gate. It looks nice and keeps the car cooler.
