Winter Tires/Rims NX350h - what's a good plan?
#31
I went to the dealership and asked about oem rims on their display. The set for 2022 nx 450h did not impress me as another one they had. That set was actually RX set and it was a bit more expensive than NX set I think $280 vs $260.
The parts guy asked a tech and the parts manager and, both told that existing RX wheels will not work on 2022 NX due to NX lag bolts vs RX lug nuts. And, they showed me the difference on the the rims that appeared to be true. Then, I asked about after market rims, the parts manager said that they deal with rws rims and they don’t have anything for new nx’s. Should be expected in the mid of October.
In the end, I decided to buy 2022 NX wheels, They look not bad and, $260 a piece is within a reasonable price range with any aftermarket quality rims. Even, many aftermarket’s are more expensive. Also, I picked up a set of TPMS sensors $60 a piece.
On the labour day, Costco will have 20% off tires so, I am planning on picking up a set of Michelins or Blizzaks. By the way, today price for Michelins dropped from $315 to $285 a piece

Also, spending this much money on a vehicle and, degrading its look to save $300 doesn’t make sense to me at least. I buy winter rims just once per vehicle. it’s like buying expensive iPhone and getting a cheapest $10 case…

To be on a safe side, go to your dealership and talk to a tech. I am just relaying what I was told and what I saw when they demonstrated the difference between NX and RX rims. I decided to be safe than sorry and, bought OEM rims. The design is not bad, the price is relatively good considering luxury brand and everything associated with it. Steel rims were never on my mind as they rust very quick and look like crap after one winter.

A bit late in the day, but Costco is having a good deal today only. I got 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks, including mounting for $687. I plan on putting them on the original wheels and then next spring look for new wheels.

That what I thought originally and, the parts guy at the dealership quoted. Then, he walked to his computer did a search and the price came up $260 each…
Take down the part number and call around your local Lexus dealerships

Thanks for the info. I definitely would have bought these for $260 each. I found a seller on kijiji that had a full set of OEM 18 alloys that came off a base 2022 NX for $1200. The only benefit is it has stock tpms, but the inside of the rims are scratched up

I picked up TPMS as well for $60 each
