Hi everyone, finally after waiting for 6 months, I got my new NX350h premium trim (Canada) beginning of September. I have a question about the maintenance schedule!
Should the first maintenance be done after 1 month then every 6months or 5000 miles? It has been almost a month now. Should I call my dealer to setup a maintenance schedule? Also, the personalization service is done before picking up the car? Is that right?

No the service interval is every 5000 miles with oil changes every 10,000 miles.

The personalization service should be done before pick up but a lot of the dealers forget about it.

I'm at the dealership for my 8000km service as we speak. And to my surprise it's free. No oil change though. That's at 16000km.

Do you guys do the Service 1 which does not include the oil change? It seems this is just waste of time and money.

Service 1:

• Check installation of driver's floor mat.
• Inspect all lights and horn for proper operation.
• Inspect wiper blades, linkage and washers for proper operation. 1
• Remove & inspect cabin air filter. 2
• Check and record tire tread depth. Examine tires for damage and uneven wear.
• Remove wheels & visually inspect brake pads, calipers, rotors, brake lines and hoses.
• Rotate tires (applicable to same size wheels, front & rear).
• Inspect for leaks - engine oil, brake fluid, engine coolant, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, differential fluid, transfer case fluid (if equipped) and top up washer fluid.
• Visually inspect the Hybrid Battery Cooling Intake Filter (if equipped) & clean if required.
• Remove & inspect engine air filter. 3
• Record inspection results, measurements and component condition on inspection form and/or repair order.
• Reset Maintenance Reminder Light or system.

Service 1 is waste of money to say the least. For Canada, the 1000km & 8000km services are free. I have a 4 post lifts at home so I do my oil changes for all our vehicles. My 350h has about 14000km since March and I have done 2 oil changes so far (one at 1500km and 9500km). My oil was pretty dirty at my 2nd oil change and there is no way I would follow the Lexus recommendation of changing it every 16000km.

Well if their recommended interval is 16000 maybe I'll do them at 8000. I wonder how DIY oil changes will affect warranty. I've never had to do a warranty claim as a result of doing my own oil changes but you never know. First oil change at the dealer cost me a bundle.

They don't provided you have proof that you are actually doing them. I plan to have the dealer do the 16000km changes to start with just to establish a relationship and meeting the bare minimum requirements, but I have been doing my own in between ones as I plan to keep my NX for 50 years

I update my oil changes and all my service work in the My Lexus website, it's the same place where you see what they have done to your vehicle. I wish I could upload receipts but no.. I keep them in a spreadsheet just in case I need the supporting documentation for warranty issues.

The Car Care Nut (Toyota master diagnostic tech) on You Tube recommends an oil change at 500 miles for break in and 5K miles or 6 months thereafter, Lexus does 10k miles. His reason is the rings on the pistons are not as tight as older cars, so to achieve better MPG. The oil gets contaminated by fuel after 6 months and starts to break down, He says in the Toyota manual the fine print recommendation for oil changes is 5K "IF" lots of short trips, dusty roads or towing. With W0-16 oil I can imagine this very light oil is going to get contaminated even sooner. He states the No. 1 cause of engine failure is bad oil. I buy the filters for $6 at Toyota dealer and Costco Kirkland oil ( I believe Mobile 1 full synth) for $40 for 10 quarts. ( Or I can pay about $120 at the local oil changer, which I won't. Don't trust them to do it right and don't want to go thru the pressure sales to change the air in the tires!!!!

I'm a new owner of a new NX 350h in US, Washington State. I too respect the advice of Car Care Nut and plan to do an early oil change at about 1K miles. Will use Toyota 0W-16 oil and factory filter, but I'm changing out the drain plug to an after market one with a magnet: https://votex-us.com

These magnetic plugs really work to provide some relief from circulating metallic elements in the oil.

unfortunaively I let ours go to almost the full term before the dealer did the first one. I plan on doing them every 10k kms consequently.
Any idea on what the thread diameter and pitch are for the drain plug? M12 X 1.25?

I don't know the thread specs. Perhaps if you contact Votex they would share that info with you.

M12 x 1.25 is correct and it is pretty much standard for most Toyota/Lexus engines. There may be exceptions but, I'm not aware of any. And wrench size is 14mm for the head.
