2012 rx450h intermittent start up issue
Hello - I live in Colorado and the past cpl wks when I’ve gone to start my 2012 rx450h; it has taken a few tries before it gets to “ready”. I’ve attached pic of what dash looks like when it doesn’t start. No image on main monitor at all. Power button is amber.
If I keep trying w the brake and power button, it eventually starts up and doesn’t seem to have problem for the rest of the day.
Could this just be a cold weather issue?
I’ve only had the car for a few months.

There is a safety interlock that requires holding the brake pedal down as you push the start button and you will be awarded with "Ready" light.
Try few things.
1. Don't be in a hurry to start.
2. Hold the brake pedal down and count 3 seconds.
3. Now push the start button.
Other things to check :
Have the 12v battery tested.

If the power button is amber when your foot is on the brake, this indicates the vehicle did not detect the key. If you hold the fob up to the power button and it goes green, that usually indicates the battery in the fob is getting weak.

thank you!
you’re right, turns out the “cranking health” is low. I drive a work vehicle during the week, so will need to drive my Lexus more often or will end up needing a new battery.

There are few things that can help extend the date for new battery ..
Turn off the auto Headlight ON.
Turn off any other auto features.
At the end you will need new 12v battery. Things are not getting cheaper. I would say start selecting the 12v battery and make use of any sales in your area. I purchased 12v battery from Toyota dealership [Yes, I don't claim that i don't drive a Toyota product].

PS: CCA is a bit deceiving number as the 12v battery is not used for cranking, but it can be used to determine the overall health (capacity) of the battery.
