My $150 NX350h 'F-Sport' Conversion (Pix)
A member posted pix of his white F-sport this summer, and I loved how it looked. I went to a detail shop and was quoted $1400 for the window trim chrome delete, $300 for the mirrors, and $500 to paint the roof rails. Way too much for me. I tried Hyperdip on the window trim (twice); huge mistake, took forever and looked crap when I was done. I watched a number of YouTube videos on vinyl wrapping. With practice & patience, I did a pretty good job.

Looks GREAT! I'm sure that was a ton of work!! Love the badges. REALLY do not know why Lexus doesn't offer those in black to match the rest of the blacked out F-Sport Trim (oh and the single strip of chrome on the mirrors - come on!)

wow I really want to black out the badges as well. How hard is it to plastic dip it?

Use Hyperdip, not Plastidip. Watch the company video. Make short strokes (~6") back & forth about 6" away. Take your finger off the trigger as you change directions. Hit it with 5-7 coats from all directions. Took me a lot longer to peel the excess material off, especially around the tiny NX350h badge.

First, use 3M or Avery wrap; VVivid is crap. The below video is what I followed. With normal trim wrapping, you tuck the film in the rubber seals around the windows, then cut the film where you tucked it. With Lexus (&Toyota), there is only about 2mm of space on the upper windows, so you can't tuck & cut. For the upper trim, I used "knifeless" tape (shown in the vid). It's a skinny tape with a dental floss type string. You lay it down right where the rubber & chrome meet, then put the film over w/o disturbing the tape. When all in place, you yank on the string & it cuts the film. It leaves a slight jagged cut (compared to a blade) & you can try to tuck it in the small space. I did this on the the inner & outer trim around the rear triangle windows as well. The lower trim is much easier, as it's a tuck & cut job. Just make sure you don't tuck the film too tight on the upper portion (leave it a little loose) because you might cut the rubber seal as you are cutting the film. Once cut, you can tuck it tight. Use masking tape as instructed in the video.
I did several practice runs before doing an entire section with small pieces of wrap. Take your time! It takes a lot of patience & trial & error!!

Also, I had to do the mirrors with 2 pieces; no way I could get a single piece to wrap around all the different sides of the chrome.

great info thanks. I was thinking one could remove the window trim fairly easily and wrap off the car. Mirrors would be more complicated no doubt. Any reason you hyperdipped the roof rails instead of wrap?

I was told at the (expensive) wrap place that they couldn't be wrapped & they would have to remove & paint them. Boy, I don't have the ***** to R&R the rubber window trim! Same goes for the lower chrome strip & mirrors. I kept them all in place and it wasn't too bad.
