Default My own calculation.

I had just about a half tank left and filled up today. The average the car was showing at the time was 33.8, and my calculation was 34.5. Granted, I have only 343 miles total on the car, so it's far from broken in. And considering that we shop at Kroger and earn discounts on their gas, I paid $2.68 for premium today; I'm dang happy with my mpg.

Question Fuel Tank size

I just purchased a 2023 Lexus RX350h in March. The manual and all spec sheets that I have seen says that the fuel tank is 17.2 gal. I just had my 1st fill up. The RX said that I had 32 mi till empty and it only took 11.8 gal to fill my tank. Now that the tank is full, the RX says that I have 440 mi till empty. Is the tank smaller on hybrids or is there a setting no allowing me to fill up completely?

Well for one thg, anyone that's owned a Lexus for awhile has probably heard or know that they use a 2.5 -3 gal fuel safe on the reading. I know it's not great to do ( so save the comments) but I for one will let it run down very low. You can let it Hit Zero mi left n I can assure you that you have 3 gal left or 2.5-- 100%. So esp on the 350H you have another 60-80+ mi if you were driving on the open hwys. I did it n tested it several times on prev ES & RX vehicles I have owned for 20+ yrs. Not so much on the 2 newer ones -- 2020 ES350 FSPORT & RX350 2023 but nothing has changed from what I know. I've let the FSPORT go past Zero few times( knowing i had 50 mi est left) n most I've put is 14.5--15 gals. It holds 15.9 gal. So in short there's one reason you're not getting close to filling full tank.

I believe they are being truthful about the 17.2 gallons on the 350h and 350. I think they say 17.8 on the 500h. But they admit in the manual that once the 30 mile warning comes on that there is 2.6 gallons left. So they admit that they lie. I believe there is more than 2.6 gallons left when the warning comes on. I've heard as nigh as 4 gallons from various forum members. So I wouldn't worry about it. So, unless you have a real reason for going over 600 miles between fill-ups ( 35 mpg times 17.2 gallons), I would just fill up when the warning comes on and go about my merry way enjoying the great mpg and beautiful new car.

Consistent w what I've read n heard. 2 different Serv Advisors over last 15 yrs in time difference have told me when the Fuel light comes on you have min of 3 gals left. So I always went by that on prev 2013 RX350 we recently sold. Light would come on usually when it said 15-17 mi remain. Prob little tmi but really only let come into play when we were traveling n I wanted to make it to a bigger Town etc.

The 350h and 500h have the 17.2 gallon tank and the 350 gas tank is 17.8 gallons.

My 350h took 8 gallons when it just indicated 1/2 full on the gage. Divided into the number miles traveled I was getting 34.5 mpg. Everyone’s results will vary.

Letting the fuel level get too low is hard on the fuel pump as well because the fuel is used to cool the pump.

That's what I got as well. I've filled up twice now, and it's the same average. Hopefully, it will go up as the car breaks in, but 34.5 is pretty darn good.

Default 1000 Mile Road Trip Mileage

Just finished a road trip Phila to Charlotte and back. Highway mileage was consistently 35 to 36mpg. City driving was from 36 to 38mpg. Was running in Eco the whole time. Lots of hill climbing and curves. Adaptive Cruise as much as possible. Very happy with the mileage and performance. Will post a road trip review in the appropriate thread. It's strange driving a vehicle that gets better mileage with city driving!

That's great mpg. How many miles are you getting per tank?

I never let it get below 1/4 full. That fill-up I put in 12 gallons. I think the number it displays after a fill-up changes based on the car's historic mpg. That said, I did notice it was consistently estimating around 420 miles to empty or so. My last fillup, after this long trip the indicated miles to empty was 500.

I haven't taken any long road trips yet. I currently have 723 miles on my 350h but the mpg keeps getting better. I assume that is what you experienced.
