Had a short trip the other day in my RX 350h and got the best mpg yet. I was driving from Alhambra to Rosemead in the San Gabriel Valley, surface streets, slightly downhill, not much traffic and few lights/stop signs. Not my typical trip. I was impressed. MPG is getting better as I drive more. I am at 5 months and just under 2,400 miles. The short trips near my home in Los Angeles, 5 to 10 miles round trip, I am getting about 25 to 30 mpg city driving for the first leg, but much better on the second leg back after the car has warmed up, 34+ mpg. On longer city trips 35 to the low 40’s mpg. Freeway trips, 20 to 40 miles each way, 38 to 45 mpg, but mostly in the low 40’s. This car was made for Southern California, moderate weather, lots of street and freeway traffic and mostly flat. I do wish I had held out for the 450h+, but who knows when we will get more detailed specs, when it will be released and what the wait time will be. This is a huge improvement over my 13 year old 2010 RX 350 that was getting a combined 15.5 mpg.
I have yet to see above 30 MPG in mostly around-town driving. On the highway, I can get about 34 MPG. I thought I would see better. What are others seeing?
I get 35 to 36 on the highway at around 65-70. Around town 42 mpg and more is not uncommon. My record is 54 mpg on a 12 mile trip. My gas bill has gone down to less than 50% of what it used to be.
I'm getting 32 mpg up and down the hills of Pittsburgh. About double what my old 2020RX (non hybrid) got. On 87 octane gas. I have not done a highway trip to calculate that, yet.
I have tried the ECO mode and dislike it. Make the vehicle seem sluggish but then I guess you get used to it. I drive in normal and find the most important factor in getting great milage is just behind your eyes!
