yeah, the strut bar does not clear the engine cover. I don't think any do to be honest. No biggie though to take off the engine cover. As confirmed by the guys at JPImportz it serves no purpose other than to dress up what's under the hood. To be honest the bare engine with the strut bar looks cool. Call up the guys at jpimportz and ask for the AREA 51strut bar. I paid $250 and its the best one you can get. Good luck 98LexusSc3.
