Question engine problems

I have an 2002 IS 300. I bought it new. I'm having engine problems. When in drive, in idle mode (i.e. stopped at a stoplight) car feels like its going to stall on me, It hasn't yet.....I'm still under warantee. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem. This is a re-occurring problem. Lexus doesn't know how to fix it because they are still unclear why it does this.

PLEASE HELP!!!

How long have you had this problem and how soon has it started? What is your mileage btw?

Sometimes a simple fix is changing gasoline brands. I mostly use Chevron Supreme w/Techron.

I'm at 30,100 miles. I normally use Supreme from Chevron. I thought it was the gas, but its not. A friend says it might be transmission problems. I'm concerned. I'm thinking maybe I should sell and upgrade (if I can afford it ) to an RX 330......very nice SUV

Engine stalling usually never causes your engine to stall, unless your tranny is badly ruined. You can count that out. Although, stalling is usually a case of low idle speed and/or sensors tweaked out of specs. You should try another Lexus service department to diagnose your problem.

look closely at your spark plug wires, especially near the firewall...we are seeing many rat damaged cars lately at the dealer. Apparently the fires have left the animals with few places to live.....

Default Stalling

All of these answers so far have merit. Also, if it occurs with the A/C on, the sensor that kicks up.the idle speed when the compressor is on may not be working. That is a simple fix if needed.

I also agree with Flipside here....use Chevron high-test gas with Techroline. I use it myself with no problems.
Barring that, use Amoco or Mobil high-test. Both have good detergent additives and will help keep fuel injectors from clogging up. Stay away from cut-rate brands....you get what you pay for.
