A good rule of thumb is to stay $500 within invoice or below. There are several threads that have discussed this in the past. You may wanna check the search function and research the past threads. Two months from now...prices and deals wont be the same as what you would get right now.

I paid sticker, I suck at buying cars, always have paid sticker, except on my Murano I paid $1800 over sticker.

Default 3k

i got my 2004 MSM 5sp leather two weeks ago for 3k off the sticker price. for a total of $30,000. we got a super deal. you just have to work the salesperson hard. be sturn with what you want and be confident. even walk away if you have to and they will chase after you if they think you are a serious buyer. they will call you and do what they can to make this deal. it took me all afternoon with them making many phonecalls because they didnt want to lose my business.

sometimes you might feel that you dont want to lose the offer that they gave you, but you got to remember that the ball is always in your court. you're the one who has the money to buy a car and they have to earn your business. worst case scenario, if they don't accept your offer, just go to another dealership who will work with you. be patient and very stubborn. play their game. no matter what, they are going to make a profit, its just how much more of your money is what they are trying to get.

So just act very serious (even if you aren't) and maybe mention them that you have an offer elsewhere. they just want to move their inventory as fast as they can. tell them that you dont want to waste their time, and vice versa. give them a reasonable offer and walk away if not. you'll see that they will start crawling back to you.

When I got my 2003 MSM back in april 2003, i got the car for $1k below invoice. Back then, Toyota was offering a $500 off. Dealer offerred an additional $500 below invoice. It did help that my other friend was shopping for the same car (different color), as well as the fact that the 5MT cars were not selling (dealer mostly sells the AT). Remember, what's important to the dealer is the # of units sold, not the price of the car (within reason of course). Dealer is still making a profit @ invoice. Good luck.

I got my 2003 Is300 Sport Edition used from Elizabeth at Longo for $26,000. Of course this was used, but the car is in great conidtion. Black leather, Thounder Cloud Exterior and rear spoiler! I got a decent deal! Shop around and know what you want.

If possible, try to shop at a Lexus shop close to one of its competitors, especially a BMW shop.
The prospect of having the competition right across street is often an incentive to cut the price.

Depends on what you buy and when. Unfortunately, if you have a hot new product in high demand and short supply, sometimes there isn't much chioce....they WILL go for sticker or more, sometimes MUCH more......unless you know somebody in the buisness and can persuade him/her to give you a break. Good examples of this are the Honda CRX, the Mazda Miata, the Toyota RAV-4, the New Beetle, the Plymouth Prowler, the PT Cruiser, the new retro Thunderbird, the Mini Cooper, and now the new GTO. All of these cars went for much more than sticker for at least the first year.
( And don't be surprised if the new 2005 Mustang also does this summer...that car is going to be as hot as Pamela Lee in G-strings ). The best thing to do with products like these is to wait a year or so for demand to cool down and don't try and beat the Jones'es.
