Default Changing Spark Plugs at 60K?

Hi All:

My 01 IS is getting near the 60K mark and the manual recommends changing the spark plugs, among other things. Any opinions if this is really necessary now? I was thinking that these iridium plugs can go another 15 or 20K miles or so, or even lasting up till 100K total miles.

Any thoughts on whether I should change these now or can it wait a while? Thanks!

Wouldn't hurt to change them. Does it hesitate when you crank it or feel like it's loosing power? Worst case senario you have new spark plugs.

60k is a great time to change out your plugs. Despite the fact we have the OEM Denso Iridiums not the performance Denso Iridium plugs, it's always best to change them on a regular interval to keep the maximum efficiency of your 2JZ in top shape.

Change them now. Even if they DO last for 100,000 miles, sometimes after a long time like that at high engine temperatures they can get burned into the threads they screw into and can be VERY hard to remove.

Never ask zealots if you should skip the zeal! We're the people who wash out Lexii three times a week just for the thrill of it.

You " Wash out Lexii ? " What do you mean by this?.....Do you work at a Virginia Lexus dealership?.....they, of course, wash every car they service. In fact, that is one thing that really SUCKS about my own Lexus dealership....they won't let me wash my OWN car.....and, of course, I won't let anyone else wash it.

Sorry, my qwerty skills suck. I meant to type "wash our Lexii". I wash out my Taco 4x4.

Does that apply to GS as well? I didn't think we'd have to change out our plugs that soon.

Thank you all for your great advice. Next time I bring in the car for servicing (next 3 or 4K miles) I will be sure to get the plugs replaced. Better to spend the $ and get better performance and fuel efficiency!
