out of curiosity, why is this in the LS forum?

that IS is one that RMM did. there is no IS430, they just took that IS, dropped a 4.3L engine in it, plus loads of other goodies. i remember watching them build this car on TLC i believe. hot stuff.

Lexus displayed an IS300 fitted with a 4.3-liter V-8 from its GS430. The IS430, which Lexus dubs a one-off with no plans for production, was built by Rod Millen's shop, and also includes a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission, Brembo brakes, TEIN springs and electrically adjustable dampers, Speed Star SSR 18-inch wheels, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Rhys Millen Racing body components adorn the exterior, which gets a Chip Foose paint job.

Thumbs up NICE paint.

I like the two-tone paint job on this beauty as much if not more than the engine. Years ago two-tones were common but we almost never see them any more outside of a few small SUV's.

Why have we not seen a production IS430 yet? Like an AWD IS, this is somewhat overdue. Maybe problems with stuffing that engine in there and not having enough airflow around it in the tight engine compartment to help keep it cool? That was a problem with some Ford 3.8's and big-block Mustangs.

I know there is a IS400T that is going to be released soon. but I don't think Lexus plans on doing either of the v-8's at least in the near future.

Interesting, I guess I missed that on .net. I know there was confirmation that the LF-C concept is supposed to be the next IS. It'd be cool if we could get an IS400T.

I heard that the LF-C will be the new IS and they will have a coupe/sedan/maybe removeable top/engine option of a v-6 245hp or a v8 GS engine. It will be interesting to see what makes it to production, it's exactly what the car needed!
