Default Head Light Lens

Looking for an answer to a common problem. How can I keep the clear lenses on my headlights from getting pitted and yellow, I wash every week at least. Anyone use any type of polish/wax that works? Thanks for the help.

Get some of that Xpel crap. Or just wait till they get ad enough and wet sand them with some 2000 grit and buff to a shine. Did that when I got my IS painted and they look AWESOME! Like damn near brand new. Use 3m Extra Cut compound.

I am not ripping on Xpel...I hear all good things about it. Guess that just came out wrong.

I didn't find it offensive. I just find it funny that people use 1st grade terms to describe things.

Thanks for the responses. I'll try the buff method and then probably Xpel the headlights and fog lights. Any help on where to get the Xpel? Thanks again.

I assume you have an '01, the lexan on the '01 model is really soft and its prone to pitting and scratching. You can try to buff them but I have had little luck buffing the '01 lenses... most abrasive compounds will leave them foggy. The '02 up are easy to buff but you rarely need to buff them.

I would start with a claybar or a mildly abrasive lexan specific polish, you can ad a few layers of wax afterwards as long as you are not going to apply xpel. If you are going to add xpel the wax on the lens will have to be removed in order to get it to adhere properly.

I have an 03 but I live in New England with sand and salt on the roads. The headlights are not terrible but like many Lexus owners I am a bit of a perfectionist and just want the car to look flawless.
